Convince me to get a TTS or an R8
#16
Quite frankly I wouldn't want a moron like you owning a TTS. I'd rather my fellow TTS owners be car exhausts than an idiot whose concern is image and who try to validate his purchase decisions with random strangers on the internet.
FWIW I bought a TTS because I test drove a bunch of sports cars and this was the best.

I was thinking the same thing, but was holding my tongue. What did he expect from this forum, anyway?

Title says it all. It was my dream to own a new TTS, that is until I saw and drove a 2017 R8 recently. Now, I'm not sure. One thing is that the TTS wouldn't stand out at among the thousands of Porsches in South Florida. It may be the better daily driver, however.
I need you guys to sway me to one side. I've also posted on r8talk to see what they say
Thanks!

That being said, i'd still buy a 991TT over it...it's just a better car haha.

We have a beautiful black 2017 R8 in the shop right now for our exhaust and tuning upgrades, along with a few 991.1TT to compare. I have to say, the new R8 has remarkable improvements over the previous generation. Interior quality and design is much better and more attractive, and the change to the rear bumper in particular is just more aggressive and eye-catching than before. I have to say Audi did a very good job with that car, and I find myself looking at that car more than the 991TT when I walk in every morning. The potential sound is also INCREDIBLE from that car.

i would rebuy a 991.1 over the 2017 R8 and save 50G but that's just me.

I love the R8 - looks great, drives great (was close on the v10). Im a pure Porsche guy, and the reason is that Porsche has track support - audi still not there yet. but if you aren't tracking id look seriously at r8.

i test drove an Audi R8 + yesterday and own a 2014 TTS. There interior was very nice and I like the rear end of it. Very nice car. Downshifts were not as dramatic as Huracan for sure. Nice car, but I wouldn't consider it over my TTS.

personally, I find the the r8 ugly. The huracan is far better looking but outlandish in appearance. For me, it's between a used 458 and a new TTS.

I would go with the porsche put an exhaust and tune and you can daily drive all day long and destroy any other exotics at any type of racing period, and did I say its a Porsche and not going to leave you stranded like other exotics.

based on the lack of space in the frunk of the R8 and behind the seats, I choose the Porsche over the R8 and the Huracan. I just wouldn't use it nearly as much. I put 2 golf bags in the back of the 911 and still have room for a friend. I know you have the M4 but on a beautiful day why wouldn't you want to drive the car you dreamed of, not your daily driver. I also have the GIAC stage 3 chip, intercoolers, AWE exhaust and intake. The car is a beast.

Then again......I've said that before!! Lol

I want to thank everyone for their input. I think I've decided what I want to do:
Keeping the M4 to be my DD (maybe trade in for the latest model).
I don't think I mentioned that I have a Range Rover HSE as my family car (two kiddos and wife).
Save and pay cash for a Huracan, use it as my weekend car or may take it to work on nice days.
Thoughts?

Looks like we are in the same boat. I've narrowed down my choices to the R8 V10+ and the TT/TTS. I don't want to spring $300K+ for a flashy exotic as I like to stay under the radar. A carmine red TT/TTS is about my "flashy" limit. I don't like having more than 2 car payments so I'm saving up for my dream car as well. Besides, I don't spend money I don't have.
I've always been an Audi fan and currently own a S6. Audi designs and builds some of the nicest interiors, IMO. I like everything about the R8 V10+ except for the front end. It looks like someone didn't want a big face and squashed it. It's like a big muscular dude with a extra tiny head. For that reason alone, the R8 is out for me. I'm probably going to order my dream TT/TTS in a couple of years. Maybe Porsche will fix that stupid dummy key! For now, I'm looking to get the new gen RS5 (or maybe the TT RS) and the wait is excruciating. This will be my airport car. About the time I order my TT/TTS, we'll probably swap out my wife's GL450 for a smaller SUV (Cayenne S or a Q7) since one of my kids will be out of the house. Seems like a supercar, DD, and a nice family SUV is par for course. First world problems indeed!

Not a bad way to go. Daily + family + exotic is a standard setup that works well, and you've picked some of the usual suspects. Lambo vs. others is mostly about personal preference.
We have my daily + wife's daily + family and have a three car garage and a winter, so upgrading my daily to a TT was a better fit than trying to add an exotic as a fourth car.

drive both. buy whatever one you like better. I live off las olas in fort lauderdale. you won't stand out no matter what you buy, it's south florida. I pulled up next to a koenigsegg the other day.

I will say that you came off a little douchey. People here are very nice and will spend gobs of time answering your questions. But no one really cares what car you do buy. Some save up to buy their dream 911 and will only have one. Others are lucky to have had multiple and/or have other exotics. All are good people. No one has to answer. Never had anyone ridicule me or talk sh** even on my first post. So buy the one that makes you turn around to look at it as you walk away after parking and don't let anyone "sway" you.
