FAIL at Daytona

Great feedback - This only occurs above about 130mph as I am getting into the banking.
I keep waiting for that PM from a Porsche engineer saying "I can help you, but keep this quiet" but nothing yet.

This sucks. Daytona is on my bucket list, and want to do the Audi event. Any other TT run Daytona and not have an issue. Paradocs in the na forum had some issues on banking with I think a c2s with pdcc.

Late to the thread but a similar update on Daytona banking and traction control failure issue.
I have a 16 RS and experienced a great 10 laps in three days at the audi Daytona event last weekend. After several attempts to drive the track with stock tires and without trying to set any track records we found that staying down near the apron and not exceeding 115 would let us drive as we wished on the other sections. Anything faster on the banking between turn 6 and the bus stop would give an immediate error messages.
It did appear to have the error just before the bus stop after being on the steepest banking of the track. On a couple times it did occur just after leaving turn six on to the banking.
same errors - traction control and suspension failure error , drive accordingly
we looked at the codes in the pcm with a Piwis 2 and there was not a listed code or origina of the failure. We were able to easily reset it.
We tried turning off traction control and this did not change the error. Fortunately there was a Porsche race team in the garage with us and they have been in contact with Porsche. It appears this is an inherent problem with the traction control and the yaw sensors. The angle of the track and g. load at that location set off an error code that would make it sense that the car was turning over.
The race team has been working on this for months with no solution. Apparently it affects the 16 RS and turbos more than the GT3's of 2014-15.
It was also a bucket list item for me but unless Porsche has a solution in the next 11 months I probably won't return to Daytona

Thanks for that post s996. I hope Porsche gets its $h1+ together on this.
I assume that the racing teams have a nearly-completely different software base than the roads cars. (Most stability control code rm -rf’d.)

Hi s996, I was in the GT Silver TTS that ran low/slow in the banking with you for a few laps! We talked for a while about it, along with the Girodiscs. Two years, the same problem two years, and I just accepted it was going to be how it is. I'm probably not going back to Daytona again with this car, but it's a very cool experience to drive that track. My track friends and I camped out in the infield and had a great time overall.
The other issue with this particular event is that the run group we were in was a complete free-for-all, with people passing anywhere without a point by. The corner workers did nothing about it, and the Audi Club did nothing about it. I can handle it as a driver, but it's just not cool. Being predictable is safe, being careless is dangerous. If somebody passes me in turn 1 without a point by (which they did several times), and we have contact that puts us into the tires...do you think anybody is going to bring out a checkbook to reimburse me when they did something stupid in their jacked up mustang? Me neither.

Randy good to hear from you. Great time at a totally different event. I agree they did not have the de set up as a de that I was used to but rather an open track day for advanced drivers.
The race car was a 991 variant but believe it or not it has the same internal protection software. Without getting into anything engineering, which I have no idea, they told me they don't use tc unless it's raining otherwise they want to turn all systems off. I guess Porsche won't let the system go all the way off or at least that was the problem they were having. In the dry with race driving on the banking the pcm was putting the car into error modes.
who knows, great cars, all the other tracks and street driving are perfect!
clark at apex will get you a great deal on those rotors.

BTW, last year it would go into "psycho" mode at about 130mph in the banking. This year it lost it's mind at 111mph once and 107 once, so I kept it at 100mph the rest of the time. (hell yes, it was frustrating) Thanks, Porsche, for all your help!!
