991.2 S Versus 991.1 TTS
So while at a dealer checking out a brand new nicely optioned 991.2 S - which is a great car - I began thinking about a 991.1 TTS. Price wasn't much different after adding a few, very necessary, options.
My Findings:
991.2 S is a great car: very fast, comfortable, and almost drives itself. I was ready to buy it....
except for the Turbo itch that I needed to scratch. So I tried a 991.1 TTS. Since I'm not a purist and don't track a car nearly as much as I would like, really, what else could you want? While it didn't make the 991.2 S seem slow, this thing is freakin' fast and just as comfortable. I realize that this is a 991 Turbo forum but has anybody else compared the two and then decided on the 991.2 S? Did I miss something?

Actually a similar thought come cross my mind too.
Instead of Turbo S, I'm thinking that a regular 991.1 Turbo would be a great alternative to a brand new 991.2 Carrera S. Since all these 991.2 Carrera are all turbo now and a nicely optioned .2 CS can easy reaches a pre-owned .1 Turbos's price range, why not just go for the real thing with even more performance. .
Obviously the Turbo and the Turbos are significantly faster in straight line, I would love to hear some fee back regarding to the handling aspect of Turbo/Turbo S compare to a lighter .2 Carrera S.

I've had a 991.1 2S, 991.1 TTS & 991.2 TTS
Go the 991.1 TTS over the 991.2 S.
It's in a different league, and they are great value at the moment because people are wanting the TTS.2
Cheers

So I went back today, with wife's approval, and BOTH the black/black 991.1 TTS were sold... a day later. They were on the lot for less than 72 hours...combined. Takeaway here is is that they're going fast.
I did drive a 991.1 S PDK today though - didn't want to totally waste the trip. It's quick if you keep the revs up but if you're plugging along at low RPM and then you nail it, you're rewarded with a long view of Prius taillights. This was not the case with the 991.2 S PDK, like the TTS, low end torque quickly gets you where you want to be, it always feels powerful.
I'm going to check out a 991.1 S with a manual tomorrow. No, it won't beat the PDK in a drag race but maybe I'll have a lot of fun losing.

On the other hand I have seen cars which are poorly specced can sit on the lots for months.

It boils down to how they are optioned. Car that are well equipped will fly off the lots. I was looking for the right car for a while, but the one I have is a car that I bought the very day it arrived on the lot. In fact I negotiated the deal before the car hit the dealer's lot (some dealers list CPO inventory on Porsche.com before they actually have the car in stock).

Good luck with the hunt, the thrill of the chase is part of the fun!

I just recently went through the same process. I decided to make the switch from my 991 S Cab to a coupe. Considered and drove the 991.2 S and 4S and the 991 Turbo. For roughly the same money I felt the Turbo was more car. I found a 2014 turbo with 5,000 miles equipped exactly as I would order. For me it was the right decision, I love the car and I have had a lot of Porsche's.
I just got back from two days at the track and the Turbo is a phenomenal car. I preferred the Turbo over the Turbo S because I did not need the extra 20 hp and did not want the ceramic brakes for track use.
Either way you go, you can't go wrong. They are all truly exceptional cars.

the 991.2 C4S is a great car! Makes lots of power and is a great daily driver.
I would love to own one for my daily as it is not far off the power of my 997.1 Turbo!
But that being said, a pre owned 991.1 Turbo would be in the same price point and is a lot more car.
and it has already depreciated somewhat whereas the 991.2 C4S will depreciate more.
We all love a new car, but My pick would be a clean pre owned 991.1 Turbo.

I'm having the same quandary. I found a 2015 TT with less than 1,200 miles for $144K ask. I think it only has these options: Porsche Crest , Power Steering Plus, Premium Package Plus , Sliding and Tilt Moon roof with Privacy Shade, Heated Front Seats, Infotainment Package Plus.
What is it missing? Not sure what the MRSP was. What do you think its worth?
It's a Maserati dealer selling it. Is there anyway to CPO it?

I think I know which Turbo you're referring to and its missing a critical option: Sports Chrono Package. I would not get a TT without Sports Chrono Package. For TTS, its standard including PDCC.
For $144K there are a lot of low mileage TT and TTS to choose from.
