Chris Harris on cars-2017 Turbo S video

His reaction was a bit disappointing; wasn't in the mood for fun, apparently. His closing remark -- "best all around sports car for sale.. what more could you want?" doesn't quite square with his comments while driving.

Ya, can we go to the bar now, bye? Quite indifferent attitude...

I am a big fan of Chris Harris (slight man crush if you must know), but who cares if he doesn't like "our" car. I love it and that's all that matters to me.

I can't stand Chris Harris videos - all he seems to care about is whether you can drift a car. This video is a perfect example. 21 seconds in and he's sliding it around a corner. After a bunch more slides he says "...it can do that [sliding the car], and that is what has always peaked my interest".

His disinterest attitude appeared to stem from being unable to extract the full performance of the new car so to evaluate it properly. Fair call really. I mean that's what he was there to do in the first place.

Probably his worst work ever. I don't care about drift performance either, but I do understand his disappointment with the venue and gasoline in South Africa. The track does seem nice.
Anecdotally, my 991.2 seems a bit quicker and better planted than my former 991.1. I've got 7 track days scheduled for September, so the numbers will tell the story soon enough. Overall, I like this new model much better, and I wasn't forced to make the swap, so I made the decision strictly on the merits of old vs new on the road.

I also have my name on the GT2 that my dealer might get. (Hoping it's not the same story as the R) I think I'll cross that bridge when it comes, but likely will keep the .2 and take the GT2 for a year or so and see what happens after that.

I guess it depends on what you want to do with the car. I own a '14TT and a '16 RS. The TT is a DD and the RS is an occasional driver.

You have a point there carcommander. The tts is hard to top as a daily for this level of performance car. As much as the 3RS rides a ton better nowadays i'm not so sure if i'd want to use it as a daily - well certainly not over a tts anyway. I guess this is where desirably one owns more than one toy. .2ttrs would present the same in that regard I imagine.

BTW - I had my 991.2 TTS on track at VIR Monday for the first time, and cut just over 1 second off my personal best. The car did a 2:03.38 on Cup2 tires, beating the 991.1 TTS at 2:04.44. I also had Tom Long instructing me, and I'm sure he helped more than the car did on it's own. I'm back next week with David Murry for a couple of days, and will have a better feel then.
