Default 2016s sure do seem to be moving slow from lots

Certainly, many Porsche shoppers know about the changes to the 911 for the 2017 model year. (I have one on order.). That said, I'd think that folks would snap up good deals on 2016 models on the lots (if Porsche is offering them). I sure do see A LOT of 2016s on lots that I've seen for months... Don't they call that "lot rot" in the parlance?...

Part of the issue is pricing. My dealer has a 2016. But it was built with an MSRP of 216k and they are asking $196k. There's no way anyone would pay new 2017 money for a 2016 even if you would get a 2017 with fewer options at that price.

I'd certainly agree that if the dealers aren't "getting right", that these things won't move... Whatever, it is their business to run, I suppose.

I would assume the TT and TTS has a damn good margin of profit built in and they should consider discounting the hell out of them now before the 17s hit the lots in even greater numbers.

My C2S was purchased by the dealer for about 92k, they sold it to me for 104k. I would assume the TT and TTS have an ever greater gap between what they pay PAG for the vehicle and what they could sell it for, even with a discount.

I hope they don't. This is what BMW does and it just destroys resale. Porsche has always been very good about pricing discipline. They use the shortage of 17s to offer only a 20k discount on the 16s, and enough people will take that deal so you don't need to actually offer bigger discounts until a handful of remaining cars are left by next January.

Someone should start a forum on price difference between'16 '& '17 TTS that has more access than I do. The ''17 does have features '16's don't but '18's will as well. Once some real numbers come out it makes it easier to choose a '16 or '17. Real test is 2-3 years from now then we can see the price difference. Porsche could hold back the market or flood it and we are all in the river.

BMW in one fell swoop destroyed the i8 Market. They could not sell i3's so they moved all production to i8's (notice no '17's) and killed anyone who owned an early one '14/'15.

In general $196K cars or even $150-$175K just take longer to sell - just like $1 MM+ homes do. The good deals get swiped up quick. Eventually someone will buy it not caring about the difference and maybe the dealer will CPO it for the price making it a better value.

Yep! I had a 2015 BMW i8 and I traded it in when I got my 2017 Porsche Turbo S. Took a huge hit on it but the sales tax credit helped me feel better.

I see that "The Collection" has 5 2016 TTS' on their lot each with a pretty big discount, 195 MSRP to 205 MSRP each with a 26K discount

Do you guys think this sets the floor for new '16's and does it then transfer into pre-owned.

The difference in price between the 17 (3% discount) and 16 (15% discount) made my decision to go with the 16 easier. I feel fortunate that I found a car almost exactly how I would have ordered. The only thing I didn't get was PDCC. Perhaps next time.

I plan to mod the car with a tune and exhaust anyway, so I don't feel I will be loosing too much in performance.
