Thank you for your concern, but, rest assured, I am living well within my means.

Lol. And like I need to know? Relax. You two are both being far too sensitive.. Better to go back to talking about cars - cliche's, life coaching and ones financial affairs is of little interest....well to me anyway.

Probably not a bad idea.

Merely responding to your comment about "financial affairs" :-)

BTW if anyone wants to retrofit aerokit - it is on sale for 37% off at Suncoast. This means you can likely have it retrofitted for same price as factory MSRP.

I did not do the aerokit as Silvert8 car has, which is just about identical to my car except the aerokit. In looking at his photos I think I might have errored a wee-bit. Too late right now, but if I really do want it I can add it on. I may just go out buy the Kit from Suncoast with the current deal of -37%.

Actually, I think the black aerokit looks better with red and lighter colors, but with the night blue metallic which you (and I) ordered, I don't think it looks as good. There's no reason to skimp on options for a car at this level (what's a few thousand more!), I'm just not seeing what the advantage of the aerokit is. Maybe it'll grow on me.

The advantage is about 300lbs of down force.

That's a good reason. How much does it reduce the amount of space under the car?

I don't think it does. It increases the spoiler area front and rear so you have more surface area generating downforce. It isn't changing the height of the aero features.

BTW I misquoted the improvement. It is 37lbs on front and 40lbs on rear for a total of 77lbs of downforce.

You can see photos of it here. Based on looking at it I don't think it reduces ground clearance.

FWIW - I am skipping this for 2 reasons: (1) I worry about paint matching especially with white, and (2) Its pretty expensive even with the promo pricing, and I doubt you will see any of that back on resale.

That said it does look awesome on all the cars that I have seen it.

From the press release you linked:

The key goal in its development was to improve driving dynamics by further increasing downforce, while preserving the same coefficient of drag as the standard equipment.... The total downforce generated by the 911 Turbo adaptive aerodynamics at 186 mph on the track was increased by 37 lbs, to 57 lbs, in the Speed setting, and by 40 lbs, to 331 lbs, in the Performance setting.
I take that to mean depending on the mode it adds an additional 37-40 lbs of total downforce at 186 mph with a negligible change (increase) in drag. Thanks for linking that press release - I'd forgotten about it.

I'm ordering it because it's functional enough to have a purpose and I like the look of it on the car I'm ordering. I'll lose a lot of money on this car but that's ok, I plan to keep it a while so I've accepted it and am going all in

Here's a few photos of my '17 Turbo S. I took delivery a week ago. I apologize for the photos not being that good - it was late in the day and the sun was low, causing some shadows. The car is Agate grey with the black aerokit
