Smile Hello, new member, just ordered 991.2 TTS

Hey there,

This forum was valuable to me as I struggled with selecting options for my first Porsche, thank you.

I read some things too late, like that I should expect 5% off MSRP even when placing an order for 2017 991.2 in February. I'm bummed about that, waste of 10k right there.

Hardest choices for me were silly things like interior color between Black with Dev. Stitching (and if so, then what deviated stitching locations) and Esp./Cogn; glass sunroof or metal sunroof; and whether to get the Side Mirror with Lower Trim in Black or just the regular Side Mirror. It became not fun these choices became so stressful. But I locked in today, so, no more choices. I also opted for EU Delivery but the VAT was much much more expensive than if I'd have taken delivery stateside. The dealer process was also difficult at times, surprisingly- to order what has turned out to be a 250k car.

Looking forward to participating!

Thanks and kind regards,
Nick

Had I moved on EU Delivery the first chance I got, I'd have had it in June. Now they are estimating July though I've not received an official date yet.

I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

Any advice on EU Delivery? The VAT is looking like 20k extra... worth it?

You do realize you get the VAT paid back to you once the car is exported out of the EU. It becomes a short term loan to the German tax man, while uncle SAM waits for his cut when it arrives in the States!

I put my order in at the end of Dec, fixed date is end of next week, delivery date is first/second week of May... it's truly a long wait!!

Sounds like the dealer is trying to trick you that you will not be getting the VAT tax back to encourage you not to do ED which does cost the dealer several thousand dollars that he is not supposed to charge you for.

I inquired about ED but dealer told me they pass the cost on to the customer by offering $3500 less of a discount on the car. Decided against that because there are driving vacations offered in Panorama with the new 911's with 5 star hotels and meals for about $5500/person. I know its not the same as driving a TTS through Europe but the wear and tear is on their car and not yours. Seems like a more than fair trade off

Click on '991TT' in my sig (not '$ss-Engine') and after you've digested think about the value proposition again.

BTW, the dealer gets another allocation for every ED. So, an ED trims a little profit but they get to sell another Porsche and make profit again.

Just finished your review and I think maybe you are right. I guess I have to order another one in 2017 and make it an ED. Anyway my daughter is graduating from college on May 13th and that's when the car is suppose to be at the dealership. Tough choice as to where I should go. Just kidding they can take pictures of her crossing the stage and text them to me.

Don't think you'll live that down!

Do you know your production date? May 13, you've accelerated given you just put the order in, your dealership must have had an open spot for you. Great gain in time.
