Love my new 911 Turbo
I have been on these forums for a while. Back when I had my 2010 C4S (switched to an RS5 for a while) and now back with my 2014 911 Turbo. Finally had a chance to wash the car and post some pics. The weather in Oregon hasn't been the best, but I got a sunny day.
Love the car, but have a couple complaints (no car is perfect).
- The Bose sound system is horrendous, I should have upgraded to the Burmeister. No matter how much you try to tune the Bose, it sounds like utter crap.
- The build quality is better on the 991 than the previous models, but the Porsche fit and finish is not as great as it should be in my opinion. The aluminum trim around the windows doesn't line up 100% for example which is just sloppy.
- The Keyfob is a joke. Feels super cheap compared to my Audi RS5 or even the Mercedes (which itself is outdated).
Otherwise, it feels good to come back to Porsche. I really loved the RS5 and the dealership I bought it from is amazing. The Porsche dealer here in Portland is a joke. Rude salespeople and Enterprise rent a car for a loaner car 50% of the time (wound up with a Toyota Corolla last time for a loaner). I purchased this one from San Diego and had them ship it up.

Good to see another PDX listmember here too. There was great weather today. We took the whole family mountain biking in the coastal range.
I like the Burmeister quite a bit... but I don't mind the keyfob, and I agree the Merc is outdated in comparison.
I'll be ordering an aftermarket exhaust soon. From SamboTT, whatever it is. It's the one thing about the car I don't like. My station wagon sounds meaner

The Burmester stereo is better, but Bose is not that bad. the fob is ok, but I have the convenience package and really wanted just a push button start, the fake is fob is just not good engineering.
Nice car, now comes the painful breaking period. Good luck

The Burmeister System can play HD DVD music CDs? Are they just files or super high fidelity lossless WAV, MP3 or whatever format is out there? My last two cars could play straight CDRs with MP3s/WAV files on the Disk with my last car having a USB port and Apple iPhone, iPad and iP(whatever) hookup to play music. The only bummer was the USB port would charge anything USB but was useless with with an Android Phone or Pad.

The Bose sucks. I didnt realize how bad until I got a Harmon Kardon in my Mini and that sounds better, sad really. I to plan an upgrade some time this year.
Until then just the sound of the Turbo's are perfect music.

From what I understand the fault with the Bose system are the tweeters. If you replace them with some high quality, I wouldn't know who makes the quality speakers these days. Also like with the Burmeister system it would help to find a high quality 10 inch subwoofer with enclosure and integrated amplifier. Would help the performance and sound of the Bose Stereo by several fold.

In contrast to the first note, I had a very good experience with the Porsche Dealer in Beaverton. Ask for Nick. I bought my 991, 911S from him (I live in N. CA). Very good experience. Gene
