Default 991.2 Turbo-- Details Released in 6 Days?

Hi everyone. I follow Porsche Newsroom on Twitter and they put out a post this morning stating that the new Turbo is coming in 6 days. Anyone else have any info or details? Really excited to see how far they push the envelope!

I was told that it will have a hybrid powertrain a la 918. Although the source is a highly reliable one I would be stunned if it was accurate

You are talking about the 991.2 Turbo/S?

Yes. I am doubtful of it having any sort of hybrid powertrain

I have no doubt that a hybrid for the TT/TTS will arrive, but not likely in the 991.2, as the extra weight to accommodate the batteries would have to be saved in a ~150+ pound lighter body. I assumed that the 991.2 TT/TTS would remain gas powered and get a power bump of 20-40 bhp, remapped PDK and with the new PCM stuff in the 991.2's already announced. Possibly also with the wheel setup of the GT3RS. My guess has been that the hybrid TT/TTS would be with the next body style change as maybe a 2018 model. The TTS with electric power/torque to front wheels would very likely put non-hybrid cars like the 488 and Huracan or McClarin's, except the P1, at a disadvantage on track and over about 120 mph.
Indications are that the Mission E four-door will be a 2018 model in late 2017. I believe that Porsche has confirmed that its motors are derived from the 919, which is one reason I guess that the hybrid TT/TTS will be arriving as a 2018 model.

Agree a hybrid power train won't surface in the current 991 platform as the entire chassis would require a full and very costly revamp, hardly likely for the end of a model cycle. I recall the recent 4.0 turbo story, also stated, but not happening. I think most of the info on the .2tt is already out to a large extent, the only thing missing is the official website details regarding the power increase and accel times. We've seen the pics..

Maybe they mean the new 911 Carrera S with the turbo powerplant?

I assume you meant the 991.2 4S since the S is already announced?

But no, the tweet had a picture of the 993 Turbo on it so it has to be the new 991.2 Turbo. 4 days to go.

Any predictions, anyone?

I predict Turbo S:

590 hp
540 lb-ft

We've obviously seen some changes in the interior in the spy shots, like the large LCD.
