Custom Radar/Laser in my 2015 TTS
So while away in Hawaii with the kids, dropped the new DD for a Opicoat (over my prior XPEL Ultimate) and a Custom/Radar. Some of these are on another post by WCH BOS but I wanted to post another thread for anyone wondering about doing this.
I've done the Escort 9500 in my four other cars (458 Italia, Lamborghini Gallardo, Panamera GTS and M3 Convertible) and I was really happy with it (no tickets in 5 years) However, based initially off of sdg1871 post about the AL priory/BEL combo, I did a lot of research and he was spot on about the AL priority units. While the Radar is pretty much the exact same as the Escort (minus some KA segmentation of questionable significance ) The Escort uses the Laser Intercepter jammers which do not do well against the newer laser guns (Dragons) In fact even the Blinder products (which were the top of the line before) don't do well with them and they are notorious for not updating the system.
You will see for me its all about being stealth. I don't want to see the stuff. Its all about function. I know different folks place the laser jammers closer to the plate but I personally didn't want the Jammers in the mid section and placed 6 inches to the side will not make much difference in effectiveness. If you wonder about this, check out this testing video.
You will see when cops are targeting the car, its not nearly as precise as I once thought and by the time you are close enough for the cops to target my precisely, you would have already slowed down. The key with these jammers is that they are LEVEL. In my other rides I actually recessed them behind screens and never had a problem.
The install took about 2.5 days in total. The second key for me is that I want to be able to pull the unit when I sell the car. Many certification programs don't want aftermarket stuff and with a few hours labor and about $100 for a new plastic panel you would never know it was there as no drilling was done. The USB update ports are in the glove box. Anyway if anyone has any questions feel free to ask and thanks to sdg1871 and WCH BOS for posting their rides which helped me.

Looks very good. Hard to see exactly how the Bel display is mounted, but I like it. I had been considering the mirror display, but prefer to leave the mirror as is. Also looked into Stinger, but for triple the cost, the Bel/ALP setup delivers excellent capability, especially the stealth factor of the ALP that does not throw an error code on the LEO device. Have not used detectors for years, but seem prudent for the TTS and PGTS. Have always been mindful of what is ahead and behind me on the road, but in those tricky situations like concealed detection on 35 mph roads where it is very easy to go a bit faster, the detectors make sense.

Exactly. It's the 35-40mph zones that can get away from you so easily. Highway stuff is rarely an issue for me as I'm not the guy doing 100mph unless I'm on the track buts so easy to do 50 in a 30 in these cars and those are big tickets.
I understand you can revert the mirror thing back but I was hesitant given the electronic dimming etc. I'm sure it's great and works well but I dont like messing with anything electric In my cars as if something goes wrong it's always a cluster to figure out. The bell display and the ALP led are recessed into the large plastic center console above. I can see it if I want but it's not in my face.
Anyway, you asked about the bumper and lights and yes it's so they could wire the system with exact lengths (some dealers will just coil up all the wire and stuff in in some where it's not meant to be) again probably not a big deal. I am a stickler about no drilling wire conduits. So they simply remove this stuff and pass the wires along factory conduit. The jamers and radar are hooked to fabricated units that are attached to factory brackets. Again no drilling. Anyway,if you are considering the same PM for pricing. ALP gave me $500 off the bel unit and the jammers as a package so that was only $1500 which is a steal. Install can likely be done for less (or maybe more depending on the market) than mine I'm sure.

Nice install. I have a 4-head ALP system on my 350 rwhp Miata (and another for my S6, soon to be installed) and it works like a hot damn. I use a windshield-mounted Redline that I switch between cars but, save the absence of GPS and lockout functionality, it's essentially the same as your STiR+.
BTW, Ka band segmentation is a very good thing. Not only does it allow you to eliminate some non-police bands that are prone to falsing (cheap Whistlers are notorious for this) but it also allows quicker scanning of the frequencies that really matter. Bottom line: Less falsing and better performance (particularly for quick instant-on shots).
