Paint to Sample. You tell them what color you want the car painted and then they empty your wallet.

Yup. But when spending so much $$$ - seems strangely not so unreasonable for $5500.

That's not wasted money as I would definately pay a premium for a cough cough orange car. If chosen wisely, a nice PTS color will make the car standout in the sea of grey/white/black 991tt that are eventually gonna come up for sale in a couple years.

PTS delays the delivery time by at least 6 months. No thanks.

The problem with PTS is that you need a certain customer to come at the perfect time to get and buy your car, which doesn't happen very often. Over here in Germany, people are more conservative when it comes to colors and attracting attention, so darker colors go well and flashy colors not so much. If you choose a VERY flashy color like some sort of special orange, green or light blue, the chances to sell the car are usually slim over here. Even worse: Pink.

$5500 for PTS is very fair, I think. Think about it... custom paint job? From the ground up? From the factory? Awesome.

Etna Blue, Arena Red, Signal Yellow... choices, choices, choices.

At the point of purchase, if I'm already thinking about resale issues, then I'd buy off the lot.

Custom orders are keepers... another reason why waiting a year or two for the options list to flesh out is an advantage.

My GT3RS was PTS gloss black. Made it easier to sell but not worth more like most options. As far as I am concerned there are no keepers. If you get a non mainstreem color your sales cycle is probably going to be longer. If you don't care then you don't care.

No doubt you didn't get that on the return when you sold it on!

IMO, PTS makes a personal statement and is well worth it to the buyer paying the cost.
PAG has so many great colors to choose from. If you want to order any Pcar in one of their many colors ( historical or current), then it's worth it.

Making sure the interior color is well suited to the exterior becomes the next item on the agenda. For example, IF a 991 GT3 or a Turbo could not be ordered in Geyser Grey, or Graphite Grey, I could see a PTS order for uniqueness.

Next thing you know, PAG starts offering it as another optional color.

I agree, that vibrant colors on resale need to attract a specific buyer.
