Hello, everyone. I’ve lurking this sub-forum for some time ever since I test drove a friend’s 991 Turbo S. Wow, the experience was a whole lot different and awesome compared to my current ride, the 997.2 C2S. While I love the raw mechanical feel of the C2S, I found that the TTS fits my needs and driving style better. And it’s an everyday reliable supercar, judging from what I’ve heard and read so far.
For the last 2 months I scoured the used market here in Manila and found a number of .1 & .2 TT/TTS on offer. The premium asked on the .2TTS was a bit too high for my wallet (circa usd25k in local currency equivalent). Yes, car prices here in Philippines are quite high by a factor of 1.8-2x of the USA due to the taxes tacked on. Didn’t think the premium was worth the value of new options and 20hp bump over the .1TTS.
A little patience paid off and finally found a fresh, all-stock and well-maintained 991.1 Turbo S. It’s a 2016 model though released to first owner in Oct 2015 by the sole Dealer here. Only 9,460 kms (15k+ miles!) with full service history, receipts and Dealer stamps on the booklet. It actually got away the first time, as someone quickly picked it up before I even had the chance to offer to the buyer myself. But 2 weeks later, I checked out a new posting from one of the online car merchants. Upon inspection, lo and behold, it was the same 991.1TTS staring at me. Turns out this owner beat me to it earlier but after 2 weeks, he found the AWD not to his liking. The TTS was too planted on the curves, he says!! He longs for the more playable RWD like his previous 911’s. He would now sell the TTS and get a Huracan RWD instead. This must be fate after all since this car found me 2nd time around. I no longer hesitated and readily pulled the trigger to close the deal right there. So here we are.
The car exterior is Anthracite Brown with Espresso leather interiors. Up close, I do love the color combo, it’s low profile, nondescript yet classy as my friends think. The first thing I did was bringing it to the Dealer (PGA) for the 111-Pt inspection. It passed with flying colors with only very minor issues: a weak 8-yr old battery and noisy windshield wipers. I discovered from the receipts on file that the front spoiler assembly was replaced 4yrs back (on warranty). The rear control arms were also replaced as with AWD and gear box faults cleared 3yrs ago. So pretty much an 8yr old that runs tightly as new. Really lucky, I guess.
Today, I got a new Varta AGM battery installed. Plug & play with no codes or faults upon startup. Will do two mods for now (just as I did with my previous C2S). The DSC V3 PASM controller and a Zunsport grille screen set are ordered and on the way. I didn’t realize that the 991.1TTS had a third rad on the center duct! I’ll probably keep it as stock as possible and enjoy it as originally designed and built by Porsche.
Guys, please welcome my humble ride named Thijs (rhymes with “nice”). Comes from the Dutch name meaning “Gift of God”. Truly God’s gift after it found me after it got away the first time! Appreciate your thoughts on any other things to watch out for in this incredible drive forthcoming.
@2fcknfst : you’re right. It’s only 5,800+ miles (not 15k miles)! My mistake on the conversion from kms.
A lot of premium brand sportscars here in Manila including 911s log low mileage relative to the USA. Weekday traffic in Metro is horrible leaving only weekends clear for stretching the cars’ legs. Not as many long haul roads as well.
