Should I buy this modded 991.2 turbo s?

Does the MyGenius box come with the car ? The box is a major clue to who tuned it. Hook it to the obd2 and the files should reveal the tuner.
Only a few ships like FabSpeed use MyGenius.
Find the tuner, will help you find the last owner.

I'd want to see an oil analysis and maybe see what the pistons look like. What are the miles? How long has it been tuned? Is it priced below market because of the mods, or market priced? What mods are on the car that you would install anyway? This definitely a case of buying the PO as well as the car..

Also, dealer says the plenum is probably IPD.

I guess I will be in the minority and say it’s unlikely this car is on its last legs. On stock turbos, even on 68s, these cars are mostly bulletproof and it’s unusual to see a 991.2 TTS destroyed by bolt on mods, especially the PDK. I think the chances are better the mods were add ons by the previous owner who didn’t get the performance they expected because they did not have a ProTune. So, they dumped the car and didn’t bother spending the labor to get it back to stock. My gut says the dealer is sitting on a good deal for the next buyer who can leverage the non CPO *and* the ambiguity of the mods to get a great deal on the car. If I was looking for a car to mod for a great price, I might roll the dice and have a local Indy (not the dealer) evaluate the car. If it looks good, I would low ball the dealer (especially in this market) and try to pick up a diamond in the rough for a steal.

This adds credibility to my point - a custom ProTune on a 991.2 TTS with intercoolers is going to absurdly fast compared to a stock 991.2 TT. That car is down on power and probably not because there is anything wrong with it. I would ****** it up.

Seems like the owner was prepared to make investments in the car. In addition to the power mods, he also spent about $10k upgrading the Burmeister sound system, as well as about $5k to install a built-in radar detector. Dealer doesn't know of any other mods, and thinks the turbos are the factory turbos.

991.2 turbo I drove didn't have PDCC, and I think PDCC is must have, really transforms the handling when you're on it, and better ride quality in the softer mode.

If I liked the car and its options and the asking price, Id have a PPI done that includes dyno runs.
The amount of power increase over stock would be most interesting.
If it is within 200 HP over stock, I wouldn't worry. I'd jump on it.
If it is 400+ HP above stock, I'd definitely be worrying about that.
Am I too logical for u?

I agree with PB - this platform is rock solid and ready to party especially with a few bolt-ons. I wouldn't let it deter me if nothing stands out of the ordinary,
I would just check the service records with the dealership and have a PPI performed at an Indy and hopefully everything checks out

I like that guy's videos. But, does it make a difference to you and your rationale for buying the car now?
If I were in the market and my motivation was to minimize my downside risk by waiting for a slow down in the depreciation curve.... who knows how long I would have to wait to get the car? After the market peak about a year ago, values have nowhere to go but down. I bought my car in May 2020 when the depreciation curve was magnified by the pandemic - I had offers and could have sold at any point in the last 2 years and made money - but then I wouldn't have a P car to drive.
If I were in the market and my motivation was to get a great car to own, drive, stare at while it sits in the garage, etc, - then I would jump in as soon as I saw the spec I wanted for sale and start enjoying it while I can.
I am one foot in the market for a 992 TTS now. I'm waiting to see what happens with supply of both new and CPO and I think Q3 is the litmus test. But, I have the luxury of waiting because I already have the car I want and I can drive it anytime - I would be much more motivated if that were not the case.
