Default Gloss Black or Satin Black Powder Coating Stock Wheels

Hi All - trying to decide which shade to powder coat my stock polished Turbo S wheels.

Please post pics if you have either satin or gloss and would love any commentary.

Thanks!

IMP gloss is cleaner. Satin maybe more aggressive.

I had mine done in High Gloss black. I go back and forth on my love of them.

I added black on the bottom of the trim and aerokit to make it more aggressive looking.

Default gloss black or satin black powder coating stock wheels

Just a word of caution. Powder coating, as we all know, requires heating the metal part (wheel) to several hundred degrees. I have spoken to one wheel supplier with many years of experience; he has found in the past that the heat involved in powder coating can compromise the strength/integrity of a wheel. I do not know how the Porsche paints its wheels; I am far from being a paint or metallurgy professional. However, I would advise checking it out (with other Rennlist members?) before pulling the trigger.

Appreciate the feedback.

I will say I powder coated my Cayenne GTS wheels 50K miles ago and they’ve held up great with gloss black. Did it on my GTR also with no issues. Has anyone had an issue with wheel integrity from powder coating?

Old school powder took a lot more heat.

Some take very little (safe) heat.

Ask your coater.

Lots of info back and forth on this. HRE and Forgeline powder coat. BBS paints and says not to powder coat their wheels. Porsche paints their wheels from what I understand. If you do a low temp powder coat, it should be fine.
