Default Vacuum Pump

Hey guys and gals,

Getting some seepage from the vacuum pump (9A111009006) mounted to the cylinder head on the rear-right of the engine. I cannot find any service information about this pump or any sort of description and operation on it. It appears providing boost to the brakes is its primary function. Does anyone in this form have experience replacing these pumps? The replacement itself seems very easy and straightforward, but does the whole pump need replacement, or just the seals that are on the backside? If so, can the seals be bought on their own? Is there anything special as far as service procedure is concerned? Thanks!

I have not needed to service this piece on the Porsche, but I have on my BWM. You should be able to replace just the gasket. Take the screws out and have a look. I used high temp RTV on the BWM to make my own gasket after scraping the old one off and cleaning the area well. It’s held up for 5 years.

Thanks for the info! I’ll probably see if I can find oem (or similar) gaskets since the car gets tracked a lot.

That sounds like a plan. If you can’t find the gasket however, don’t be afraid to use the RTV gasket maker. Once set it’s stronger than a paper or cork gasket. Many engine builders use it in place of formed gaskets for oil pans and valve covers. Good luck!
