Default Any JB4 tuner experience updates?

Been reading up all the info I can on this for a plug and play tuning option but most of the info is over a year old, wondering if anyone is still using this and having good results? Thanks in advance!

I am currently running a JB4 with great results. I have posted my experience including time slips and logs on a few threads and these are all runs from within the last couple of months.

Thanks for sharing, great data to reference. Anyone with a 991.1 that can chime in for closer performance numbers? Also if anyone in a 991.1 TTS is using this in conjunction with their meth injection kit as well.

Payam from Burger Motorsports has a 2014 911 TTS and did some testing with the JB4 on his car. I believe he published some dyno data on his car with the JB4 set up. Not sure if he tried methanol with it. You could email him at payam@burgertuning.com and I am sure he can give you a good idea as to the potential of your car with a JB4.

I am very new to 991 TTS ownership and this forum. @OnfireTTS seems to track mods very closely, has a lot of experience on this forum and is very analytical in his posts/comments so perhaps he could advise as to whether there is more sound data available with respect to the 991.1 and JB4.

I appreciate the kudos, but I'm just an **** engineer that's past his expiration date.

As mentioned above, Payam has some excellent data on the 991.1 with a JB4 along with dyno data , etc.

Might I expect similar results with with a new JB4 on my recently acquired 2017 991.2 911 Turbo?

Yes I don't see why not. The JB4 targets different levels of boost increase for the various map levels. I don't believe there are any differences between a 2017 and a 2018 (what I have) TTS. It seems some 2019s may be a little quicker.

When I purchased my car it had a GMG catted exhaust and BMC air filter. Other than those additions it was stock. I don't think that both those mods combined netted much more than 10 hp over stock. My baseline run was a 10.61 sec @128.5 mph on Map 0. I think that matches up pretty well with what you can expect from a stock 2018 TTS in average conditions. The various increases by map are documented in those threads.

Overall the plusses for me for the JB4 are the relatively easy installation and being a plug and play you aren't messing with the ECM in a detectable manner. I also like the logging features and the safeties that are built in. Map 6 offers the ability to customize your set up somewhat.

Map 2 provides a pretty noticeable gain and work with 91 octane. Map 3 offers perhaps the largest marginal gain. In good air conditions with decent traction Map 3 will match up to runs with Maps 4 and 5 (which require considerably higher octane levels) under less optimal conditions. The marginal gains for Maps 4 and 5 are smaller but that's also what you would expect since the extra 2 psi of boost is that each level offers is going to increase your ET and trap speed by less than the prior 2 psi increments.

In the last series of runs from Dec 4 the air conditions were pretty decent for Socal. I didn't do any runs with Map 5 which would have offered 8 psi instead of 6 psi on the boost increase. My guess is that the car would have run around 10.18 secs @ 136 mph on Map 5. So at least for my set up and in the conditions I ran my car in that's over 0.4 of a sec and over 6 mph of an increase. Not sure what that equates to in terms of crank horsepower gains but probably 80 hp or more would be my guess.

Actually I looked up one of the horsepower calculators online and for 3,900 lbs to trap at 128.5 mph the calculator estimated 646 hp. Then to do 136 mph it came up with 766 hp - so 120 hp more. Who knows if that's accurate but it seems like a solid value for the $.

Well I for one have learned a lot from your posts and appreciate them. Thank you.
