I guess I had better explain.

About a month ago I was ready to order a '22 mid-engine Corvette. I found out it was going to be about an 18 month wait. No way am I going to wait that long for a car.

I headed to my local Porsche dealer. Found out it would be about 6 to months. Ok, that's better than 18 months. As I'm ordering a new 992 Turbo with the salesman, my wife sees a 2019 991.2 Turbo on the floor. She falls in love with it. The salesman says it is being held for a customer that is supposed to be getting financed for it. It's already been a week and he's still MIA. The sales goes to the GM to ask what's the status on it. The GM calls the customer to ask about his paperwork that they're still holding on. The customer gives the GM a rough time and the GM explained that he only inquired because he had someone interested in it. The customer countered with, "if you have someone, which I doubt, give it to him!"

Wrote a check and my wife and I drive home with a new to me 2019 991.2 Turbo. So, ... Thank you, Chevy!

BTW: this car is awesome and I'm having way too much fun learning all about it.

Whoever couldn't get their paperwork together just went back to square one. Either that or the dealer is playing one heck of a next level game on their end.

991.2 looks better than 992, in my opinion, so this is a great happily ever after story.

The GM said there were too many red flags that had come up with the buyer. For over a week, the buyer had yet to even supply verification of income or any other paperwork for financing. He was also out of state (I wouldn't think this would be an issue, tho). The buyer didn't keep the dealer updated during this whole time. When I first discussed wanting to buy it, the GM called the buyer asking for some financing info and gave him till the EOB day. We stuck around in the area for a couple of hours, drove back to dealer at 5pm. No word from buyer. The GM called again and that's when the buyer got angry and, quote "if you have someone, which I doubt, give it to him!"

This is why I don't think the dealer was playing games. And I would never have done anything underhanded either.

Agree. There are a few exterior items I like better on the 991.2 over the 992. But, I'd take a 992 if I had to.

Thanks, I did marry well. She has always supported my love of fast cars. I think she has settled on the Corvette. Lately, she has been driving it as a daily driver. She won't let me sell it. LOL
