Seems like the 991 forum says no and the 992 forum leans yes - no surprise. I commented on the 992 side and I am torn. On the one hand the 991 platform is so good - and even more so with mods. Only reason for me is to do a 992 is a bucket list spec and order it to my liking. A Yolo thing. Right now I would consider doing that in the summer. But car ADD means you can change your mind.

If the OP’s hypothetical was posed as financially neutral, would you upgrade? As for me, I wouldn’t. I would rather keep my 991.2 TTS even if offered a new 992 TTS straight up. I prefer my car that much more (analog gauges, standard looking shifter, rounded styling, etc), even though I respect the performance upgrades on the 992 TTS. If I liked the new car better I would have it by now.
All that said I will keep a close watch on the 992.2 TTS when it’s released....
My financial situation is neutral. Everything I had/have I've worked for.
I have my own investments and work my *** off, but not money to throw away by any means.
I think I'll drive my friends 992, see how much he wants and go from there.
Thanks everyone for the comments here. I appreciate them all.

I think unless your friend offers you a really good deal - here's the math I would think. Its likely a $230K car (I'm sure he didnt scrimp on options). the market is hot and if he has low miles he could get $220K lets say. Your car to sell - maybe $160K. So bank on $60K to upgrade. Give or take $10K.
I think driving it and seeing the deal is a good path fwd. If it wows you to the tune of $60K + your car - then you'll know the answer.. No bad choices here. You know that spending even half of $60K on your car will be a fun exercise.
I'm in a vaguely similar situation, kind of... but my car is only worth about $80-90K depending if I trade it in or sell it on my own. I put down a refundable $1000 for an allocation that could available in June/July I'm told at my local dealer. I've never picked out a new car from scratch from a configurator and order it to my liking. I specced out a $230k car so the delta for me would be more like $170k PLUS my car by the time I figure in taxes and $6k for a full PPF.
Not sure if the #'s are working for me in my head since I LOVE my current car. The other option would be to get a 2019 991 Turbo S. Decision, decisons...
Good luck with your decision. Mine is ... keep this, it's only got 28k miles, and pick up a used 992 Turbos S in 3 years....
vs... this, for ... $170k more - right now.

I'm also in the "not a super fan of the 992" boat. In my 3 sq mile town, there are a few 991 turbo S and I believe 2 992 turbo S. Everytime I see a 992, my eyes don't light up like they do a 991.2. In my opinion, it has a blah front end but cool rear end. With that said, my suggestion is to keep your 991.2, mod it a bit and enjoy your reliable and proven car until something else comes out that blows your mind. Even the 997.2 turbo S looks fantastic so hang on to it brother.
10-20k between exhaust and tuning options will make you very happy.
I just purchased a 991.2 and did full catless Akrapovic exhaust, intercoolers and tune. Almost 700 wheel horsepower. I definitely would not trade it for a 992 of any spec.

I say 992. Lets face it in some period of time many of us here on the 991 TTS forum will end up with the 992 TTS. I mean didn't many people here have 997 TTS? It is like a stepping stone. Imo. I know I want one.
