If you want apple car play and a backup camera, an aftermarket head unit can do that.
If you’re looking for a more refined driving experience than your 997 and way more power, then yes, 991 turbo s is a great way to go. Drive one and if you like it, go for it.

also to mention a turbo 911 has always been my dream to own =]
I have a feeling you have already made up your mind however you want that extra affirmation / push to confirm your decision. Let me be the first to say congratulations on your future purchase. Be sure to post pics.
Should I do it? I really hate that my car lacks apple car play and a backup camera.
2017 will give me both plus a bunch of HP. I would be losing the Manual transmission though.
I went from a 2009 C2S (PDK though) and a 993 manual to a 991 TT cab. I drove the TT and literally traded in both cars the same day to get it. Haven't looked back. I do think I miss a manual (on occasion but not a lot) and am likely going to get one in addition to what I have e.g. a 718 Spyder or a 991.2 GT3 in manual - something that is very different to the TT - which is also a fun project car with all the mods i have (and will do).
In summary - the answer is YES - do it. Drive it and you'll know instantly if the decision makes sense to you.
I had a 15 991.1 GTS Cab that I traded for my 14 TT and I will never look back. The GTS sounded great but it lacked *****. The TT has big hairy *****! I find it much more fun on the street as the GTS had to be wound up at all times to make it go. What the TT lacks in sound compared to the GTS it more than makes up for in looks and TQ.
I felt the same way when I sent from an E90M to an F80M. I lost the sound but the tq more than made up for it. The reason I left the M cars was the F80M was numb. Everyone gets tired of missionary at some point. Doesn’t matter how hot they are.

Interesting, we have a 718 S and the wife (if you can believe it) will allow me to get a turbo. I'm looking at a 2017 TT with 26k vs a 2016 with 10k and about 10 grand less, both CPO.
I was just shopping and chose the 991.2 over the 991.1 TT. I was finding 2014 991.1 for about $110k and 2017 991.2 for about $130k. If the difference had been $30-40k, I might have gotten the .1 but it was only about $20k. The .2 has fuel injection with greater potential if you are into modding like me, and updated tech. It will be my primary driver so the convenience is worth something to me. As you go later models of 991.1, the already small price difference gets even smaller. I’d step up to the .2.
