Thanks for the link. Ordered a few days ago and they came in a day! Will change when I find a few minutes... ( can always stencil in "Porsche" in place of the generic name... )
very easy, just put a pik or small flathead in and pull the bracket off the ball. Then just give it a lil whack and it will pop right off. Make sure to support the hood with a broom or helper or it will slam down!
YouTube has a few diy videos

How long did these Apexstone struts last by people who installed them? Are there other low cost quality options?
A Porsche OEM set is over $100 plus here and there…$178 at some dealers..can find a few outlets for less, but the Apexstone are good value if quality is good…even so, if they last a few years, just got another set for under $15…

I changed mine with Tuff Support Brand. Bought from RockAuto
$8.75 per side.
Easy to change. Clips in easily.
Works well. Been on the car 8 months.
Make sure you use a big towel to lay on the hood fan cover, just in case any nuts/clips fall into the engine bay.
Decided to buy the 7" Apexstone rear struts on Amazon for $12.99 for the set and installed on my rear engine lid......Dealer lists OEM struts for $178.....they can be found MUCH less expensive with a web search.....but still more than these..
And for curiosity sake, the Dealer wanted over $225 plus to install, including parts for a 5 minute or less job......
These replacements are a tiny bit longer, but to install push down to achieve proper length, as you open the top clip with a small flat edge screwdriver and then push over the ball connector the same time.
I also applied a little grease to the cup connection/ball for easier movement before installing. Comparison strut length.....Apexstone 7" strut versus OEM.....36 pound total support with new struts. Porsche Stabilus rear engine lid strut. Installed in a few seconds...... Left clip a bit open to show where small flat screwdriver is inserted for easier installation and snapped it shut with finger pressure.....
Screen shot below of the ones I ordered from Amazon a couple of years ago and still on the car. I tried to paste the link, but clicking it here kept producing a "Bad Gateway" message. Do a compatibility search on the 991.1 Turbo S, and it will say they are compatible, which they are.
I installed them in October 2023, use my car for shopping errands 2-3 times a week, use the frunk a lot, and they are still going strong. Install was 5-10 minutes per the instruction above, and the attachment points are identical to OEM. They look exactly like the pictures below, with little or no labeling just like OEM.
