I have a new-to-me 2014 Turbo S with centerlocks. It currently has stock sized P Zero's that are almost done. I'm strongly considering moving to Cup 2's in 265/35-20 & 325/30-20, would love some additional focused discussion on it.
Who's running this size combo?
Any fitment issues? Fender rolls or liner modifications?
Thoughts on the balance change, both on the street and track?
Any negatives?
Other thoughts?
For what it's worth, I've seen some tire width calculator websites that suggest the stock width center lock wheels are ideally suited to the factory width tires spec'd on the car. I'm sure you can run wider tires, but I just don't know if they look odd or if that affects handling characteristics? I presumed Steven31371 had factory wheels when I saw his earlier reply, but I found some pictures of his car on another thread and the wheels seem to be non-stock?
Unless you're in an area that is dry and hot, or you are doing lots of track days, just get the P-Zero N1 or the Micheline PS4S. Both are a great tire, the Michelin has better rain and cool weather grip, a bit less noise but less steering feel (by a fair margin).
Cup2 are a hot weather tire that wants a track or very twisty road to work its best. You're just gonna throw money away if you don't drive the car hard on them, because they have a lot less life expectency.
The move to 265/325 is one I'm going to do. It's a good investment, the front tire in particular will change the car's grip levels a fair bit.
As an aside...I just ordered a set of Toyo R888R’s...in 325/30/20 and 255/35/20
I only got the 255 front because they don’t make a 265.
and I’m ordering Lightweight Magnesium wheels in 20x9 and 20x11.5...I have no worries about a 325 fitting well on an 11.5 inch wide wheel after seeing 325 stretched on a 12.5 wide wheel
to be honest though I’m having a bit of buyers remorse though...I think with better offsets in the front I can use a 9.5 inch wide front and run a 275 front tire which they do sell in the R888R

you’re not concerned on mismatch of diameter between front and rear?

I'm definitely aware of the downsides of running low treadwear tires, and yes, I feel like my usage probably fits better with the Cup2's than the MSPS4's (and so far I am not loving the P-Zer0 N0's currently on the car). But I agree, if my usage was more 'normal', it would likely be unneeded.
I'd like dial out a bit of push and get a bit more grip, hence the purpose of this thread. I will say right now that THIS MOD IS DEFINITELY NOT FOR EVERYONE (and it may or may not be for me...). On my 996 Turbo, moving to a fatter tire combo (245/40-18, 315/30-18) along with a GT2 alignment dramatically changed the handling feel of the car in a highly favorable (for me) way.
I know there are several folks running these up-sizes on stock centerlocks, hopefully they will chime in on this thread.
OE Centerlock Specs: 9x20 ET51 and 11.5x20 ET56. Centerlocks are 1/2" wider than OE five lugs .
Specs for Cup2 in 265/325 setup are below, so the tires are in-spec for rim width, but front wheels are at the narrow end. The upsize is ~.5" taller. Note the front/rear ratio is in balance with OE. Also note that going this route means not using N0/N1/N2 spec tires, which I am not overly concerned about.
Cup 2, 265/325
For comparison, here are the specs on the Cup 2's in OE size:
pfbz, thank you SO MUCH for that information! I think it's especially noteworthy that at 265mm, the 9" front wheel (stock center lock) is a bit narrow. Personally, I like the look/satisfaction of a wide rear tire, like the 325. I wonder if I can get away with a 255mm tire up front and keep the overall diameter within a range that doesn't negatively impact the vehicle?
