=#ffffff]Is your Porsche Communication Management/Navigation system rebooting by itself right now?[/color]

I wanted to send you a quick note that it was brought to our attention that on Wednesday night Sirius/XM sent out and update over the air that has impacted some of our Porsche Communication Management systems. If your Porsche experiences this the good news is that there is nothing broken with your system. It will not require any parts or hardware to be
Models that could be impacted: from Porsche local dealer
2010-2016 Panamera
2012-2016 Cayenne
2012-2016 911
2012-2016 Boxster/Cayman
2014-2016 Macan

Press and hold the PCM>>Info button for approximately 10 seconds until the PCM reboots.
Immediately select the following from the PCM CAR>>OPTION>>Set PCM System>>Reset PCM>>Vehicle Handover>>Yes>>Yes

These instructions can also be found in your Owner's Manuals.

We have found a potential solution to remedy this. You will need to perform a PCM handover (also known as a PCM hard reset) -

My 981 spyder did it this AM on way to local C&C. Reset it on the way- then in talking with folks at C&C I fixed 2 other Porsches there. Getting to be a pro at this...

Everything. The 'Handoff' function is meant to be used when selling the car, so it erases all station presets, nav destinations, and phone numbers, replaces all preferences and control settings with the factory defaults, and wipes out the Jukebox contents.

Some people have had to call Sirius to re-activate their account as well, while others have said this wasn't necessary.

Huge PIA. My car's been in my garage for a week, hopefully it won't be affected...

It's really not a big deal. If you have nav favorites just reset them, reset your radio stations, pair phones again, really no big deal. Takes minutes.

Its not a huge PIA. You can do the XM thing online in less than 30 seconds (did that while sitting in my car from my phone). Yes you have to re-program radio favorites. Compared to what i thought was a broken PCM - I poured myself a nice glass of red to celebrate

Did you have 20 GB+ worth of files on your Jukebox? That's the annoying part. I don't even think I have that thumb drive any longer, so I'll have to track down a lot of old files.

But yeah, it beats $4K+ for a replacement PCM.

Same here. With 12 days of warranty left I was celebrating I only had to reprogram some of my favorite stations.

Think complete lobotomy. FM, sat, nav, bluetooth, phone...

No big deal to do once. Or twice. Not exactly cool to have to do it every two days, so hopefully there is a better solution.

This made my day!! I have a 2012 Cayenne S and this happened to me on the May 22. I read all kinds of things about hard disks crashing, replacement PCMs and they were all wrong. I have been a software engineer for almost 30 years, and this didn't seem like hardware to me. I have spent untold thousands of hours debugging software, and my PCM would reset every 2 min 15 sec +- < 1 sec. So something was happening then and blowing up the code.

I am sure glad I found you guys! Big thanks!

i’m in the Cloud SW business. We call them backups. Although music is hardly important data. I did lose my quicken / tax data and my backup was a few weeks old. Now that was a PITA. I now take my backups like religion.

Only did it once and have not had the problem again. If you are still having the issue the reboot did not take.
So far no issue after 2 days. Mine was going black every 3-5 minutes and nothing since the complete reboot and a refresh from Sirius.

The reset did take and worked perfectly for two days. Many, including me, have had the problem recur several days later. The problem does not seem to be fully resolved.
