Default P100D Model S vs ES700 991.1 Drag Race

A lot of hype about the Tesla Model S P100D Ludicrous Mode. This one also has the "Raven" upgrade. I guess they are quick compared to other cars. Here's what it does against an ES700 991:

A regular stock 991.2 TTS would probably crush it too based on the distance gap on these runs...

I'm sure a stock 991.2 would beat it half mile. Not sure how much. On the dragy my car did a 147 1/4 mile and 181 1/2 mile at the airstrip so a stock 991.2 would be a spec in the rear view too.

Nice kill. Raced a P100D on the freeway. They're slow at speed. I'd say about equivalent to a Mustage GT with very light mods.

Thx gents happy to share! These Tesla Performance Models are so quick off the line. This one was beating everything it raced to the first set of roll on cones. But as you can see runs out of steam quick.

Nice.

I actually get tired of the Tesla vs whatever comparisons. Sure, they're fast but to me, it's apples vs oranges. Both are fruit and will fill the belly but they can't really be compared...and I prefer oranges.

Even if it were slower, I'd still take a thrilling, fast and precision handling 991 over a fast, sterile and (other than 0-60 straight line) boring Tesla any day.

I had a ludicrous Tesla take me off the line in my wife's 981 Boxster S. Got up to the light and the couple were acting all giddy like they had won a trophy. I gave them the thumbs up and let them have their win.

I still couldn't help but shake the sense that some people who drive Tesla's have to grasp onto something in order to feel better about driving an otherwise boring automobile IMO. For the price they paid, they could be driving a Porsche.

Get the same two cars out in the canyons or on a closed circuit (with actual turns) and the only ludicrous thing would be the Tesla trying to keep up, or trying to figure out how it was going to get home on no charge.

"Tesla limits the number of times that a driver is able to use ludicrous mode within a certain amount of time, as driving the car in that mode may shorten the battery's lifespan and can cause damage to the car. According to Motor Trend, selecting the "Yes, bring it on!" option for maximum acceleration "initiates a process of battery and motor conditioning, wherein the battery temperature is raised slightly and the motors are cooled using the air-conditioning system. It usually takes just a few minutes, longer in extreme ambient temperatures or after repeated runs. You should expect to wait a minimum of 10 minutes in-between runs."

You just summed up why there will be 1000’s of EV’s sitting on dealers lots across the globe soon. Current EV Use is around 2% based on consumer demand. Global production is gearing up for +50% demand almost overnight.

Going to be fun to watch the new bubble.

I need to analyze which Major automaker will have the largest percentage of EV and short their stock.

Yes good comparison. The horsepower rating doesnt really apply in an equivalent manner to EVs which seems to have a ton of power from a stop or slow roll but once you hit a certain speed and go "WOT" there's not much there. I test drove the Performance models and felt as if their HP rating should say something like (for the Model S P100D): 762/450. Which translates to 762 hp 0-60mph and 450 hp from 60mph to top speed. The P100D traps around 140mph in the half mile which is similar to a stock M3 or v8 Mustang or Camaro.
