I'm going to go that route too. When CSF cooling has an option I'll look at that too.

Do these work fine with the mesh grill owners install to prevent debris from going into the side air intakes?

On my 5th Porsche TT car and have never had mesh grill in the side intakes. Don't know how that would look.

I didn’t even know they made grills for the side intakes.

i can’t find the thread right now, but I read somewhere about how people complained it was a design flaw and they were installing some type of mesh grill in the side intakes.

Im still new to this forum so I’m not sure how problematic it was.

Don't think you have to worry about picking up any large debris in the intakes.

Fellas - I wanted to revive this thread because I'm interested in the larger intercooler vents but had a question around the WIDTH. Some additional cooling would be great as from what I've gathered on this forum, heat soak is a pain.

The Ask:
That said, can someone with the RS ones measure how wide the opening is so I can compare it to the stock TT one? Specifically the horizontal width of the opening.
Though the RS visually looks better, I'm more interested in the functional capability of the vents (and yes, intercoolers are on the list to help keep IAT's down).

onfire,

Did you ever install these on your black TTS? Would love to see photos. Thinking of doing the same.

I have the RS ones installed. The overall opening is not bigger it is the back side of the inlet that is more dominant and bolder looking. I do not feel you are going to compromise any air intake issues with the RS versions. As far as picking up debris, I have owned 5 TT cars and can't ever remember picking up anything substantial in the inlets. Don't smoke and don't drive over gravel littered streets so that could be why. But I have never caught a raccoon or other road kill in the inlet.

For those of you that want a more inexpensive option yet do not want that cheap looking plastic.:

Looking to trade my gloss black rear fender intake trims for your cheap looking plastic ones and some cash I'm in S Cal and prefer to swap them with someone local as a first choice

Mine are in perfect condition so yours need to be as well

This is an easy way to upgrade from that cheap plastic look. The gloss black ones list for $810 and then you have to have them painted on top of that. It was a $600 upgrade when you ordered your turbo. These vents will work In a 991.1 and 991.2. In the pictures there are refelctions of light that look like scratches. These are unscratched and I can send more pics from different angles.

Here are the CF inlets from Suncoast. Simple install and fit is perfect. This is a great upgrade over the cheap stock plastic inlets.

Funny story about stuff going into the intercooler intake ducts: My car has fully PPF on it and it's a breeze to dry; I just use a leaf blower since the film is hydrophobic. One day, I got done washing the car and was using the leaf blower to dry the car. While blowing the rear bumper dry, I pointed the blower into the intercooler vents on the rear bumper and can't even begin to tell you guys how much stuff came blowing back out of the inlets! Give it a try and let me know if something similar happens to you guys because a boatload of leaves came flying back out of mine.

Point is that a grill might actually be a good thing because it confirms that minus gravel or roadkill (Penn!), stuff can actually get in there. Regardless, you'll still need to clean it out, may the debris be all the way down on the intercooler or farther upstream because of a grill.
