How does offset effect all wheel steering cars
I am considering a different set of wheels for my TTS. Wheels I have found all have different offsets in the rear. The sets are both 7-8mm less offset so they stick out more. I like the look but am worried about how it effects the system.... any thoughts?

My experience is that you will notice a difference with a more aggressive offset. My summer wheels have a more aggressive offset than my winter wheels, and I can definitely feel it. I don’t know if it has a negative impact in the system due to altered forces through the suspension and RWS components. I suppose it’s possible, but I don’t know.

I have been using GT2RS offsets on track wheels and also the stock wheels for 3 years, you don’t feel any difference at all or any disruption to RwS whatsoever. More aggressive offset is supposed to give you proportionally increased % lateral Gs and I am sure it does, but that’s such a marginal difference. Some steering difference might be felt, for me it’s imperceptible.

It’s certainly possible. It’s a different tire, different width, and different offset. It could be the combination of all three of these things, but the steering definitely feels a bit different.

Dumb questions coming up, but...........
If I used an aftermarket OZ front wheel very temporarily in emergencies as a spare in the rear with my Turbo S, would a 49 offset of the OZ front wheel work okay in the rear?
Thinner rim should compensate for that offset in the rear, right - 49 vs. 56 offset? Should be safe as inflatable spares are thinner as long as speeds below 60mph and are mounted in the rear, etc..........
If used in the front, the wheel might stick out a bit, but maybe not that much with only 2 mm difference....49 vs. 51 OEM ?
Trying to figure out if buying an aftermarket front wheel with tire could be a good multi-solution for a spare for long trip peace of mind.....thanks for any feedback in advance......
