Cash vs Finance - Who does what?

I go in with full cash ready to wire in an account. Once I was offered a very low rate through the dealer financing from a bank I have done business with. I accepted the financing and put the cash into a new account at my brokerage and invested it in market index funds. It grew beyond the total amount of interest payments in the first year, the next couple of years was just gravy. Got a newer car recently and did essentially the same (again with full cash in the bank ready to wire) but this time prearranged a loan through a local credit union. Honestly just amounts to a game though - the amount of deprecation on these cars (when bought new or ordered) is so high that earning back the way I did is a little silly.
