Default Best license plate option?

I'm not about to screw into my bumpers, so what's the best option for mounting license plates on a car with park assist?

Skene brackets. You do have to drill into the bumper to mount these but it won't be visible.

Isn't there a mount that attaches to the tow hook hole in the front bumper? No drilling required.

Yes, but to me, it looks odd/makeshift. Also, if someone hits it in a minor parking incident, it will transfer the energy into a small, round area, and could cause a lot of damage compared to just hitting the bumper (and spreading the energy).

I wonder why no one uses automotive accessory mounting tape. BMW uses that to attach plates on European Delivery cars and there is never an issue with the tape damaging the paint, as long as you use a heat gun to loosen the adhesive. Also the tape is very secure. No risk of it moving or falling off.

Default Magnets

while the bumper was off when the front end was getting wrapped, I had the magnets glued into the bumper and the plate mount as described elsewhere in a thread. It’s doesn't seem as secure as I would like, I’m thinking of either going with stronger magnets later or trying to use the lower tab that protrudes from the bottom of the OEM mount bracket and maybe adding another set of magnets there.

Thanks for the replies. By the way, what do people generally do for the rear license plate?

Resurrecting an old thread since I have an update and a review. For those who know me from the 996T and 997T forums, you may remember that I used Cravenspeed's Platypus tow hook solution, but neither my 996, nor my 997 had parking sensors. My 991.1 does . . . Since I live in CA and I am going to start driving my car more often (why not???), I want to get legal and get my front plate on; yes, I don't like it either, but I don't want a mechanical. I was originally going to go for the extension and drop version from Rho-plate; then I decided to contact Craven, to my surprise . . .

Best customer service ever

Derek C simply asked what post I have and said that not only do they have an option for me, but if I just send back my old post, they would send me a new one for FREE, Wow. He said that they have an extension-and-drop as well so not to interfere with the parking sensors, but they also have a "blinder" that covers the one sensor and allow the rest to work without issue. I had no idea such a product existed! Below, I took a picture of the "blinder" in place and with the plate installed. Not as good as the no-plate option, but I am quite happy!

Sorry for the smashed bugs, the car will be clean in the next picture

I'm not sure there is such a thing as a minor parking incident with this car. I bumped into the rear end of another car doing less than 5mph and 2 years later when I went to have the front bumper repainted due to some paint chips, I found out there was over $5k in hidden damage. I think "spreading the energy" may actually be "spreading the damage."

Not sure about the best. as I believe the best is no plate , but there are other options. This one I was unaware of till recently and find it interesting:

There was no good solution, so I moved to Florida.

Totally agree that no plate is best, I have to admit that I don't love it, but if I have to have a plate . . . I knew folks wouldn't like it and there are those who don't like the asymmetry, just trying to communicate out that there are other options that I didn't know existed until last week. BTW, lots of advantages to Florida Have a good week, KH

I absolutely hate the look, but I managed to get the Rennline tow-hook license plate bracket to work in my 2019 TTS without interfering with the parking sensors by mounting using the most extreme of the numerous mounting positions.

Rennline part #s:
A700B license plate mount
A700C hardware
A703 Threaded ball mount (I learned it's reverse threaded)
E725 Ball end slider
