PCCB Brake Squeal
I am in the process of building out/ordering a new 991.2 TTS - only thing I’m nervous about is possible brake squeal. I live in a desert climate if that matters. I ordered the new M5 when it first came out and had to trade it in after 6mos as I couldn’t deal with the incessant squeal coming to a stop in daily driver traffic. Will that be an issue with the PCCB’s?

Buy steel.

My PCCBs are quiet 99% of the time. I do hear a squeal every now and then, but it’s rare. This was true for my 997 turbo with PCCBs also. I don’t plan to buy another Porsche without the PCCB option.

My 2012 997.2 Turbo S PCCB's squeal on occasion. I can reduce the occurrence by aggressive braking on occasion. The noise bothered me for a while but not now. Discussion with PCA determined they feel the noise is normal. If you do not want the noise then get steel.

There is an easy fix - apply anti-squeal grease to the back of the pad where it touches pistons. Use hi-temp ceramic grease if you track. I have not tried it with pccbs, but it works very well for steel brakes with race pads that squeal way louder than ceramic brakes ever do. Squal is essentially pad vibrating because of specific friction characteristics between the pad and the rotor. Anti-squeal compound makes it harder for a pad to vibrate, silencing it.

I am down to 25% on the PCCB pads and they just started squealing. Not horribly loud, but they can be heard. They were very quiet up until I hit the 25% mark.
The brakes themselves are flat out amazing and will last a long long time. Enjoy your new beast!! Amazing vehicle.

In the 7,000 miles I've put on my 2017 TTS, I've heard the brakes squeal only twice. Not very loud. I was traveling at a very slow speed both times. The noise went away at the next stop.
I was recently at the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta, driving a non-S Turbo for over an hour on the circuit. Although the steel brakes on the Turbo are great, the PCCB brakes are superior.
I highly recommend the PCCB's unless you track a lot.

How are the PCCBs superior? I have yet to see any evidence they stop better than steels. The only thing I ever read is they “feel” better. Feel is completely subjective. If one got used to the steels they might say that the steels fell better than PCCB.

They are lighter than steel, they dissipate heat more effectively resulting in little or no brake fade, and they have superior wear properties compared to steel.

I'm going on 4,500 miles, no squeals yet.

3+ years and never once a squeal. Not sure why you would ever not get the PCCB's when ordering an S, unless I suppose you will track the car constantly. But you will kill resale if car doesn't have the ceramics. They are amazing brakes! Forgot to mention, when ordering without the ceramics you get zero credit going with steels too, unless that has changed. That was the way it was when I ordered my car.
