Talk about lucky ... just researched the Smart Top option, at the recommendation of a fellow Rennlist member, Hawkeye911 (Thanks again). VERY cool ... really enhances the operation of the top / windows.

Just for giggles, I went to my car, and tried the remote open / close. It worked! The previous owner installed the Smart Top, and the dealer was not aware / did not tell me! So - I went from wanting it, to having it, in about 2.6 seconds

And for free! It's a good day ...

I just added a smarttop myself on my 2007 997.1

It took about 20 min to install and made a huge difference. It is really a nice add.

I installed one on my Merc SLK55 AMG. It helped a lot as the factory standard was you had to be fully stopped to activate the roof, either up or down. The SmartTop allowed me to set a speed, which I did at 20 KPH. The roof worked just fine at 20. Also the remote function was nice, I was in restaurant once, top was down, and it looked like a rain shower was getting close, no need to go to the car to put the top back up. I have not thought about it for the 911, but I think I now will.

I'll be honest - I wasn't sure it would be worth the $$$. Now that I have it - I like it very much, and am adding it to my SL550, as well. Excellent add to convertibles - highly recommend!
