A drop in R values is obvious, and we've seen it already, but what about 997s, and 996s?

What about the mandatory PDK .1s?

A drop is to be expected, the real question is how much.

If one stops looking at cars as investments or somehow a hedge against depreciation, everyone would be better off.

You need to look at modern cars (not more than 10-15 years old) as a depreciating asset. We know that any Porsche GT car has the lowest rate of depreciation than any other car. During the life cycle of a GT its rate of depreciation can accelerate, slow down and at times reverse itself and begin appreciating again.
Where else can you find a car that is exciting to drive, looks terrific, is bulletproof compared to other car companies and return such a large portion of your purchase price when you sell.
Lastly, when you look at the Gt specific upgrades; engine, suspension, brakes etc. etc., they are a relative bargain in the sports car world.

You know what I hope for. Porsche to keep making the next car just that much better than the last. How are all those GT3 .1 over market purchasers doing right now? They can't sell those cars for MSRP any longer. This crap will stop when folks know the values aren't going to hold and they actually start buying cars to drive instead of as investments. Sure you will have the few that have to be the first at C&C and money doesn't matter.

Wait for the new GT4 to get announced, another good one and another will be the .2 GT3RS. Have fun with that speculators.

Perhaps soon the .1 will drop below MSRP. Eventually it will be viable to start manual swapping them

I wonder if the 997 Carrera 6MT will bolt to the GT3 engine...
