Mooty….thanks for keeping this thread going. Best place on RL.
How do you take your $5K GenI 240Z and spend $100K on it? Really fast! I love this old car, nice and restored. Long drive this morning and now my clothes smell like oil and raw fuel.

I had a friend that had one of these in college, it was a hoot, the sounds and smells cannot be replicated by the electric revolution
Igooz: OMG that's beautiful! My first car was a '73 240Z in that same color with white interior. So many great memories with that car. Details on yours? Straight restoration or any parts upgraded...like maybe a Rebello rebuild?
Thank you, you know it is a different feel with the I6 layout and the Datsun DNA. I have older cars with V8, Flat 6, and V12, and each is different. The Datsun has a complete different DNA.

I had one in late 80’s but had to sell it due to lack of space, family, and other priorities.
Some years ago I bought this from the original owner who had bought it new in Indianapolis in 1973 day after he got divorced! so I am the second owner

What a great first car.
Chris, this has a 100% nut and bolt restoration and it looks 100% stock in appearance (things that you can see) and 100% modified on things you cannot see. Bare metal, floors replaced, ton of metal work, fenders trimmed and rolled under, new harness, 100% fasteners new and plated, Brembo racing brakes in 15” Minilites, upgrades spindles, suspension, fuel cell, dynamat, number matching but hoped up to 3L Winters Racing engine, Webers, I kept 4 speed since I don’t go over 90mph anyhow, LSD. looks stock but it is not. I have been eyeing MZR and as soon travel restriction on Americans are lifted I am going over to the UK.
There is a reason Mooty loves his 914-6.
by the way, I saw your post^^^ about a 930 or 964. Get a 964 Turbo, they really are something else, I have a very mint 94 and I really enjoy it

That is an amazing car! Nice balance of original and updated.
I've lusted after MZR and was going to try and visit on my next business trip to the UK but...Covid.
A 3.3 964 is a solid idea. Can't stomach a 3.6 although I'd love one. I keep leaning towards NA because my other two cars are boosted. Also love the GTS and am waiting for the tuners to sort out at home flashing so I can add another 100hp. With the EVO and GTS, NA makes sense.
^ I think that bid is rigged. who can be that stupid.... it's a good car, but it is not a $200k car even if it was new and driven by stuck or God.
but hey, who knows.
Nice Z, wow. My first experience as my buddies POS 240z in high school, well I should say looked like a POS but drove awesome. WAY too much weed smoked in that thing at lunch time...
So here in SoCal, the equivalent of Rennsport or whatever is a thing call the JCCS show (Japanese Classic Car Show) which, being SoCal and car culture and all, is a huge event every year. Unfortunately not this year. A coworker of mine is on the board (he has several classics, mostly celicas).
Anyway, so last year, there was a really great 240z built by bob sharp racing, it was one of a couple street cars they did that were basically raced in similar trim in IMSA.
This thing was unbelievably clean.
Congrats on the 95. Best year. Love chesnut interior and RSD. If the chain covers are not leaking much, I’d leave them be. If they sit they leak, but seem to fix themselves if driven regularly (or they get worse) but valve covers and chain housings always seem to seep a little regardless.
