Default Sport Chrono package needed for 991.2 GT3?

Just to be sure, is it only the watch and lap timing with performance display?

I don't like the watch, but what other features I may miss by not speccing Sport Chrono? Launch control? Lap timing app?

A dealer says it might impact PDK but I doubt so in the case of GT3? They tell all their cars are ordered with SC.

As far as I know the GT cars are unaffected with or without the wart. Neither of my 991 GT3 or RS have had it and have launch control and all the sport settings.

987 and 997 PDK cars need the wart for launch control and sport plus.

You would not miss any PDK interaction, just the watch and the onboard lap timing trigger integration (added at extra cost). Feel free to skip it - aftermarket timers are better anyway...

Don't need it. My RS doesn't have it and I'm very happy w/ no clock on the dash.

I like mine but definitely a want, not a need.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I thought the lap timing capability/ app was included as standard with the .2 gt3, without the sport chrono (edit) package.

ps: I guess the track precision app won't work without the sport chrono. But not sure why they list it as standard in the spec. What is standard about it if you cannot use it without the sport chrono?

Without the clock the dash looks barren. For $550 is worth it from an aesthetic point of view. Also, it always nice to have an on board timer.

That was my thinking, Nick. I am a sucker for stuff like this. It completes the look of the dash.

I debated ordering it on my .2 for the reasons stated, but did add it as I felt it would look like it was missing from the dash if I didn't. After having it on my last 3 cars, to me it has become part of what makes a modern Porsche interior special and unique. In addition, unlike my 997s, the 991 Sport Chrono also doubles as a clock. Looks cool, keeps time, kinda like a black face Rolex Daytona for my car.

On the GT4 it was a 4 digit price and I passed but lower price point would move it

On the 981 Caymans and Boxsters, the clock is much better integrated into the dash. On the 911's it looks like an afterthought. An ugly one at that.

+1. Carbon trim to match the buckets is a much better use of my cash. I prefer the cleaner lines, 7.1RS and GT4 were also wart-less.

If you want something to tell you time, mount an AIM solo in it's place.

Skip it. App is junk versus a real data logger.
