I would like to request any info on a GT3 for sale at Carlsen here in California. Seems it was leased and used in Oklahoma for a short time. Any information as far as track use or general advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm assuming you've seen the car, but if not, it's being used a bit because when I saw it last week, the wheels were caked with brake dust and it wasn't exactly looking all that spit and polished. Lot of miles for a '16 at that price IMO.

 

Saw the car, I didn't realize 6700 miles is too many for a '16. Car has been outside for months and is a bit dirty. The salesman was forthcoming to say that the reason is the lack of LWB. The original MSRP was $157 K, 10% off would be at $142 K, is that reasonable?

I'm in Canada so I can't comment on the price. But in my view, 6700 miles is not that many - and does not necessarily mean it has been driven a lot. It MAY mean you can negotiate more than if it had less miles - there certainly are lots of them around that have barely been driven. Buy it. Drive the crap out of it! They are a blast.

 

No too many miles, too many miles for their asking price. They were originally asking $169.9k, then dropped to $159.9k. That is too much for that car IMO. What is reasonable to you though, may not be reasonable to someone else. My advice would simply be to check around and find a few cars that fit your desires before focusing in on just one car. There are a lot to choose from out there. There is nothing special whatsoever about that car/build that would cause me to jump on it at that price.

There is not a lot of '16 around. My build for an '18 has been pushed back till next spring, so I was advised to wait for the '19, since the delivery difference is a few months. I could possibly enjoy this car until then. Just need a fair deal from the dealer.

 

I hate to say this, but I bet it ends up costing a lot to own that car for one year while you wait on the .2GT3. I guess I'd ask myself how much that's worth to me - for me it would be a lot because time is very precious. A season w/o a GT3 to beat on the track would bug the crap out of me. Hell I'm bummed that my RS is down for the count tomorrow when I was supposed to be tracking it.

I'd say buy it, but know you will get hit pretty hard regardless of how good a negotiator you are.

 

Buy one today (not necessarily that one), tomorrow is never guaranteed. I know too many friends who wanted to wait a little bit longer on things (cars, travel, houses, etc) and those days never came for one reason or another. If you have the means do it.

 

Always wanted a GT3 , never owned one before. Time to put up or shut up.
