Default 991.2 GT3 as a daily driver?

I do only two or three track days a year.....yet like the GT3 platform for a bunch of reasons. My 996 GT3 was too raw and I had a GT4 which was OK but I traded it for a 993TT of all things. Now I have just sold my 991 TTS because I am out of garage space short term (moving) but will have a bay in the spring for a new 911 and offered a GT3 allocation. I am trying to have a car that does it all...so any opinion to the potential civility of a GT3 as a daily driver? GT4 wasn't bad...so thinking GT3 would be that much better.

It'll be fine for the non-winter months in Ontario. Oh, and if you live in TO, minus bumper to bumper traffic on the 401, DVP, Gardner, etc.

what didn't you like about the GT4?
gearing too long? Not enough tq?
suspension to stiff?

new GT3 should solve those issues (first two at least)..I have a GT3 and GT4 and find both, for ME, to be very easy daily drivers...I have LWB in both also. I think people who owned 996 and 997 GT cars agree that the new 991 platform is a lot more forgiving.

I would absolutely get one if you are offered an allocation! see how many guys can't get allocations or have to pay way over MSRP in the USA

If you live in stop and go traffic, maybe get it in PDK...

Go for it!

I just ordered the MT version with 2018 Euro delivery

Worse case you can probably sell it for a profit as there is a lot of interest and probably fewer allocations in Canada,

Vehicle "order" has been entered at the factory.
My dealer said it will probably be a few mths till i get the V200 status.
So far they believe MT production starts late 17, early '18....fine by me as I want to take delivery (with PTS) in Leipzig in Apr-May '18

Oh, you actually got the order executed? I've got a GT3.2 allocation as well, with manual transmission, and my dealer says they are unable to submit the order until there's a code for the MT.

Did you dealer actually submit the order (or maybe they have it in their "outbox") and if so, do you know how they were able to do it?

If you're truly thinking DD, and not a weekend strafing car at least, why not consider a .2 4S? Much better year round car for your climate and it's damn fast and handles great. Add SPASM, RWS and perhaps the power kit and you've got a hell of a lot of performance and a better DD than a GT3 could ever be. The .2 GTS just lapped the Hockenheim short faster than the .1 GT3 and GT3 RS, and a power kit 4S is basically the same car.
