Thanks for posting - was expecting it could at least keep up with 997 4.0 in a straight line (and is significantly faster around a track - probably over 7 seconds at the Ring).

The fact that the 997 4.0 is lighter and slower to 100 tends to imply that the 991.2 GT3 has more than 500hp and 339 ft-lbs (as I assumed given the higher compression and lower internal friction compared even to 991 RS)...

Lol. The .2 GT3 manual will be quicker than 3.8 seconds 0-60, even without considering the 1 ft rollout. Porsche numbers are always way conservative, and it's not all the rollout difference.

MPH at end of quarter mile (aka ---> Trap Speed) is the best indicator of horsepower to weight and aero.

Yes, but 0-100 tends to discount aero which can be useful also when comparing different generations.

Older cars should be retested on modern tires. The CGT for example: i'd bet the new Trofeo or sport cup 2's alone would be worth 5-8 seconds at the ring.

Guys...

The purpose of this thread was to create conversation and analysis, which it certainly has. The topic thread header was finished with a question mark, it was certainly not making a statement or claims of fact or that it was a relevant comparison to anything on equal footing. Again, a conversation starter...

Most magazines that I know in the US, including Road and Track, test 0-60 from 1 foot rolling start. The numbers they report are not 0-60 from standstill, and will always appear faster compared to 0-60 from standstill. Therefore, you can only compare numbers for different cars reported by a particular magazine, such as Road and Track. I would not compare numbers across magazines since they all have different test procedures.

Edit: I think Porsche reports numbers from standstill.

It only means that you need to read all of those issues again!

CGT with Trofeo or Cup 2 would be way faster than 5-7 sec at Ring. I don't know how much more.....but it would be way over 10 seconds over the PS2 it came with. Its probably 5-7 sec faster just with the updated OEM MPSS.

The SUV I will be towing it to the track with is faster to 60. It has flappy paddles too.
