Just putting it out there. My thoughts are this is speculation but thought I would post it first.

" Changing that 'engine position' is allowed if an automaker has built at least 2,500 units in a consecutive 12-month period."

We can always hope, but whoever wrote that article is terribly misinformed.
Porsche doesn't need a waiver for the rsr. So no need for them to produce the street rsr for that reason.
Would be fun if they did. But, Porsche doesn't have to.

Oh praise the lord, I have seen the RL light. Praise the lord!
Mutual congratulatory club, fueled by cleaning lady drivel, followed by many fawning over "VIPs" and their much more rare and special cars (then those of us, the unwashed masses) who of course have super secret decoder rings and are the keepers of all "real" info, complete with some resident potty mouth troll left unchecked by moderators who is self appointed sheriff feeling need to defend those who didn't need defending (he is lucky he didn't engage in politics, that would have brought swift rebuke by moderators) with a sprinkling of decent guys.
Good thing I'm not looking for "acceptance". "Candidly my dear I don't give a damn"

I had a good look at the RSR while attending the Rolex 24 at Daytona. For the race car they eliminated the rear window completely, using a full time rear view camera. The RSR is massively wider than an RS, easy 6 inches in the rear haunches, and probably a bit longer. Other than hood, doors and maybe the roof panel this car doesn't share body panels with any of the street cars. The front fenders have giant openings aft of the tires for escaping air. The rear bumper is really only half a bumper as the diffuser occupies everything from the belt line down. Even the mufflers are exposed with separate left and right exhausts.
The configuration would require significant modification to pass DOT and EU Road standards.
Even if Porsche were to make a limited edition street version I doubt it would be very similar to the race car, too many compromises due to road going regulations.

RSR is ratified from the GT3RS, no waive required as the tolerances are respected. the engine is still in the same axle as the street car. it is just 180 degrees swap.

RSR is substantially different beginning with upper and lower control arms etc
