Default Slightly OT: Boxster Spyder

I was looking at the adds for Spyders. I have a GTS and really love it, and have thought a couple of times about trading it for a Spyder. I underlined and used bold type on a line below from the descriptive part of the add.

I really wanted to do a weekend trip to Atlanta, but now, I don't see how I could have any fun! (Sarcasm, just too funny not to post!)

Seller Comments
This 2016 Boxster Spyder has only 1069 miles and is very well equipped. With Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), Adaptive 18-Way Sport Seat Plus, Yellow stitching in the dash, leather center console, yellow seatbelts even a Racing Yellow painted key, It also has PCM Navigation and Bose Surround Sound System, Sirius XM Satellite Radio illuminated door sills and much more. This Spyder was used as a demo at the Porsche Experience Center (PEC) in Atlanta, GA. We are assured that the average speed of this demonstration was between 20-30 mph. Our factory trained technicians performed a Porsche Pre-Owned Inspection that included an oil change and 4-wheel alignment. This super low production convertible is sure to be a collector car with its naturally aspirated engine and its lightweight design.

Come check it out yourself at Porsche Colorado Springs!

They're even more entertaining to speak to live. Nice car but they seem to be under the impression they've got a 997 RS 4.0 on their hands.

I owned one for a short period of time before I had to sell for health (hip) reasons. Awesome car. I'd have kept it forever if I could still drive a manual. If you drive it, you'll want it. So don't go for a test drive unless you're ready to buy.

I happened to see this yellow Spyder at Porsche of Colorado Springs yesterday. It was out doors and not detailed but still looked great.
It's my understanding that they bought it from PCNA.

I spent three hours test driving various cars there and was treated very
well by Kirk Macklem and the whole staff. They have a tremendous selection of cars there as well as many hard to find collector cars both old and new. Saw a 918 Spyder and a 911R in speed yellow, and two black 911R's plus a Carrera GT in the service area. They also have a lot of color choices on the lot. If you want to see yellow vs orange vs miami blue etc this is a welcome change from the white, black and gray scale cars most dealerships stock.

I just traded my Spyder in San Antonio. It's black. Loved the car. But I loved the GT4 more and could justify keeping both the Spyder and GT4 . Please don't shoot me but I traded the Spyder for a 2017 Raptor.

Get a Spyder if you can. It's very unique and sufficiently differentiated from whatever variety of 911. Further to that, we've all seen the thread debating the number of 991.1 RS that got built and how many are in the USA. There are a lot relative to the number of Spyders, perhaps double or more. On that basis I'm of the view that the Spyder will be a good long term keeper from an appreciation perspective.

love how they are assured about the average speed. Probably just looked it up on the PCM as the average speed for the total trip meter.

yeah if you are drifting the car around the wet skidpad and then letting it idle for 30 mins that will even out to a pretty low number...

My thoughts exactly......having said so, I would not hesitate buying a car that has been used as intended and well maintained by PCNA, if it is the right car for me.

The Spyder is an amazing road car to drive and fall in love with.

I wouldn't.

I know several guys who work or have worked at PEC in ATL as driving instructors; 2 of them are good friends of mine. Both told me that all of their GT3s drove differently, one of them had f'd up RWS, etc.
