Default Your Porsche Coated Stays Like New

Let’s talk about permanent paint protection coatings, specifically Ceramic Pro. Essentially, a permanent paint coating is a layer that’s added to the paint, much like wax or paint sealant, only it’s hard and designed to be permanent. As in, it can only be removed by abrasion.

There's a good reason for going into depth about this here. When it comes to the high end Porsches, most owners want their cars to remain like new for as long as they own it. At this point in time, technology has allowed us to be able to achieve that when mixed in with a good amount of care and common sense when taking care of our cars. As far as the paint and interior goes, a combination of paint coatings and clear film paint protection products can allow exactly that.

There are quite a number of permanent coatings on the market today. At Protective Film Solutions, we truly believe we offer the best one. Why is that? Read on…

Various traits determine the quality of a permanent paint coating. That said, the most important traits are:

1. The hardness
2. The slickness
3. The durability

We are well aware of a number of coatings out there that are simply not hard enough and scratch easily. Basically, you want a coating that is harder than your paint’s clearcoat. That’s what is ultimately going to better protect your original paint. Otherwise, you’ll end up with all kinds of swirls on your paint’s surface. Yeah, those can be buffed out and they are not actually in your clearcoat, but it sort of defeats the purpose of having a coating. You want that coating to not scratch. That’s pretty much the bottom line.

The permanent coating we offer is Ceramic Pro. We do so out of choice, as we believe it to be the best one.

Let’s start with the hardness of Ceramic Pro.

Yes, we offer various price points and packages for Ceramic Pro. Some of them are not permanent. But we’re here to look at the flagship product, the permanent Ceramic Pro coating 9H.

The key there is that 9H number. That refers to the coating’s hardness. Let’s put it into perspective shall we? Modern automotive clear coats have a hardness between 2H and 4H. At 9H, that makes Ceramic Pro more than twice as hard as clearcoat.

Clear coats scratch, but a good clearcoat will take some force to scratch. That’s at a hardness of 4H at most. Now, imagine how much more resistant to scratching a surface that has a hardness of 9H will be.

We have more down to earth comparisons though. We can probably all agree that the tempered glass windshield on cars represents the surface that is hardest to scratch on a car. For the most part, unless you do something really stupid, like take a sharp file to it, it’s pretty hard to scratch.

Well, guess what? A car’s windshield hardness is just a little bit above 5.5H. Hardened tempered glass can be around 7H. Bulletproof glass is 8H.

None of these are as hard as Ceramic Pro at 9H.

The Slickness

Ceramic Pro offers an incredible level of slickness based on one very good reason — Its nano-ceramic technology.

What does this mean? Think about this. One of the slickest non-stick surfaces offered for pots and pans today is ceramic. See where we are going with this? Ceramic-coated surfaces as nearly as slick as the older Dupont Teflon surfaces, yet also offer one huge key benefit that the old Teflon coatings do not possess… Durability thanks to it’s hardness.

Check out this video to get a better idea of how slick Ceramic Pro is:

However, there is more to it than just being ceramic: It’s that the formula yields no pores.

The main reason stuff sticks to paint is because the paint surface gets porous. Wax is supposed to fill those pores and make the surface slick, temporarily. However, what will do the best job of filling out pores is nano-particles. That’s what Ceramic Pro is made of… Nano ceramic particles. Small enough to fill every pore and small enough to come together tightly. This produces the 3 main keys to qualities of a good permanent coating. It’s hard, slick because it fills all pores and has none of its own and finally, durability.

Ceramic Pro Durability

The durability of Ceramic Pro 9H is really a byproduct of its hardness and slickness due to the nano-ceramic composition. The only way to remove the stuff is through abrasion.

The other benefit that can be had when combining all these qualities is that the protection and durability can be intensified by layering the product. This is the reason why our best package for Ceramic Pro involves layering the coating various times. This allows the product to protect your paint for as long as you own your car.

That’s also why we can offer a lifetime warranty on the top-of-the-line Ceramic Pro 9H package. Even on high wear areas, the multi-layering aspect of Ceramic Pro allows us to ensure it will not be wearing off.

Finally, let’s close with this. Someone who buys a Pagani Huayra is in all likelihood only going to use the absolute best products on his car. He is not going to take any chances. Well, one of our latest Ceramic Pro projects was on a brand new Pagani Huayra. There’s more, however. The coats of Ceramic Pro didn’t simply go straight on the Huayra’s paint. No. The car was fully wrapped with Xpel Ultimate Paint Protection Film on every shiny surface inside and out. This is to protect the paint from the really aggressive stuff like rock chips. The coats of Ceramic Pro went on top of the Xpel clear film. This ensures the car is protected in a way that was not even conceivable a decade ago. The Ceramic Pro coating on top of the Xpel film also enables the car to stay clean and wipe down with ease.

There is nothing bad we can say about Porsche or the smart status of most Porsche owners. That said, we can confidently say that if it’s good for a Pagani, it’s probably great for a Porsche.

There’s more to it. Ceramic Pro offers formulas for your paint, your interior panels and even your fabric. That’s exactly what this Pagani Huayra got. The top of the line Ceramic Pro treatment, inside and out.

Here we show the application of Ceramic Pro to the entire interior of a Mercedes.

If you are looking for the ultimate in permanent paint coatings because you will not, under any circumstance, settle for second best, give us a call and we can talk a lot more about Ceramic Pro for your Porsche… or Ferrari… or Pagani… or whatever else you have treasured in your garage.
