I find it very hard to believe that McLaren would deny warranty claims for only going to the track without an inspection. They are trying to gain market share in a competitive space, and that kind of press probably isn't what they want.

Has there ever been a confirmed case of them denying a claim?

McLaren has only ever denied claims for bad paperwork to my knowledge.

I generally do track weekends so I get 2-3 days out of a pre track or post track.

This inspection thing doesn't seem like a big deal unless you don't have a dealer in your town. Just take it to the dealer before your track day and do the post and pre at the same time. Relatively cheap compared to these cars. It's kind of funny to watch guys whine about a few hundred $ that own a 200k plus car!

As a guy who EARNED it, I guess I see it differently. I see it as you can't afford the item if you can't properly keep it running per manufacturers recommendations. I see the same thing in my airplane forums as well (if you think these cars are expensive, but a jet!). In most cases, when the guy is crying about the costs, they bought off more than they could afford. This is not a good experience for anyone involved.

I see it as more of an inconvenience. Dealer an hour away, 1-2 hours at the dealership, drive home another hour, that would be 8 hours +- for pre and post check.

The service department should give you the checklist for the pre and post track inspection. My understanding is that as long as you or someone else completes that checklist then you are good from a warranty point of view.

As CJ said above; most of us do a track inspection maybe every 3 times we track.

Talk to the local dealership about this. By and large and especially if you are a decent customer (as in not trying to be an **** about things generally), they will almost always be reasonable about the inspections in my experience. That means not necessarily doing every single pre and post inspection but at least doing one every couple of trackdays. I used to change oil every 3-4 trackdays on my 12c anyway so it wasn't a big deal to get the post inspection done and they knew I was going to one soon after so never required a 'pre' check. I admit being in the UK the distances involved will be less than in the US by and large though.

They will pretty happily truck the car back and forth for you, at least at MCL PHL...
