Congrats Jon! Hopefully you get some warm weather when she gets here so you can take her out for a spin.

Side bar question about transportation - do these cars get delivered from port to the dealer in an enclosed trailer ? I've already planned to pick my car up from the dealer with an enclosed trailer given the weather in New England .

I'm not sure for every dealer, but mine did.

Congrats Jon!! Woooohoooo!!! Here's to the wind at her back and a smooth crossing.

Four Liter - I had asked about the type of trailer (enclosed or open) re the GT4 (whose ship I stalked mercilessly ) and I was told they use only enclosed trailers from the port to the dealer.

I don't know if it's true for all types of Porsches but I was told all GT cars are shipped enclosed. I'm betting they do this for all Porsches.

^ Thanks - it would seem like they would given the way they are covered in that cloth gauze . If it was the white plastic shrink wrap directly on the paint ala VW then I could see them on an open rack truck .

Nice. Congrats!
Can you give us some impressions of the R? Especially since I believe you own a Singer too...? It'd be cool to hear your perspective... Thanks.

I'm pretty sure my GT4 had only the white plastic wrap that sticks to the paint. There were also blue foam "bumpers" place here and there to prevent dings, but it didn't come with the deluxe fitted disposable cover that is pictured with the RS.

The GT4 seats had the full covers. Chin spoiler was across the passenger seat. Hubby and I peeled some of the wrapper back! The dealer may have removed some before we arrived, but I'm almost certain it had the cheaper protection. But they still shipped in an enclosed trailer.

Rest well!!

Argh! 10 days it sits in the great outdoors to start its life. And I will be concerned once it arrives to take it out in the snow and the cold
