Read the 2016 GT3R is running the same G engine that the RS is running.
Any info on how those engines are holding up in use and how the R has been doing or is it still in the test phase?

The engine in the GT3R race car is a different engine than in the GT3RS. It is a gen 2 engine. GT3RS only has the gen 1.5
COMPLETELY different oiling system for the top end per AP and FSW.

i heard from a GER team who is running the 911R - that they had already 3 outs of 5 following Races - based on engine issues - but thats gossip. it is a reliable source tho. could be true or just half true.
tried to check it with results in:

but missing the time to do so.

Hmmm, Fascinating its as to valve train oiling. Want to know why completely different. What is difference? Did it need to be completely different? Why?
Important questions that should be answered with so many RS's they pumped out ww.
I hope they feel they got it right with the G and the oiling differences for the R are based on racing demands and just evolutionary changes otherwise they are going to have a mess on their hands ww.

Nevertheless, Weathertech is racing an AMG GT S, Heart of Racing is not competing (Riberas to Ferrari, Farnbacher ???, Gabe Newell not funding a team), and Park Place is not confirmed.

I don't think any of the IMSA teams had engine issues in 2016 - Weathertech, Heart of Racing, Park Place.

Weathertech will be in a Riley-campaigned Mercedes Benz next year. We'll see how they do; they had one of the very first GT3 R examples, if not the first customer car worldwide, and they were never happy with the setup of the car. Cooper improved a lot last year, as well.
