Default GT3 RS in Assetto Corsa

Anyone have Assetto Corsa (its a PC racing simulator)? They recently released the 991 GT3 RS and its an absolute joy to drive. The handling is so balanced. After only 3 laps my best time on the nordschleife is 7:28 with plenty of time left on the table.

Anyway, I highly recommend you give it a try if you haven't. Happy thanksgiving.

Don't look like there is native Mac support but you can launch your Mac into Windows mode (Boot Camp) and run in Windows.

We should create a group and add one another and race, since the servers are usually for closed groups

A group would be nice.

My benchmark for AC cars is two things:
- for the cars I drove in real life, does it feel right? There are road circuits for AC like Isle of Man and various hillclimbs, BTW.
- I go to the threads on rennlist and other forums and look for alignment recommendations (for the real car).

I am afraid that the contemporary Porsches released in the pack 1 and pack 2 do not stand up to that benchmarks like many other cars in AC did. Now that they have a 718 S Boxster which I drove just recently I just don't make the mental connection. The new GT3RS makes me come way too close to times that people who know what they are doing get in real life. At the same time the car is treacherous in an odd way that I hear nobody complain about any street Porsche. As far as alignment goes, I just can't reproduce some observations. The model also sounds odd with a shift knack that I never heard on a real gt3rs.

Keep in mind you can change all of a car's data in AC. So if you think the game is solid but a car is not all you need is the "quickbms" program and a text editor.

My favorite 991 car in AC remains the Carrera 2 GTS that I downloaded from who knows where. It's not fast but it feels right.

It would be awesome if we created a group. Someone would have to rent a server though... Don't like that about AC. Multiplayer needs improvement.

I have a Nixim polecate chassis with a thrustmaster T500 wheel and Team ARC carbon pedals and triple 27" monitors. As long as your PC meets the specs required it should be fine.

OK, so here is a specific question. Maybe we have somebody here who drove a RS on COTA.

When you take the AC model of the 991 gt3rs into the combination of S-curves on COTA there is body roll that goes into a harmonic oscillation. It is swinging back to forth. If you stick with it the last swing will then break friction in T5 and you slide perfectly sideways.

In principle that behavior is something that is logical enough. You see it in AC, with floaty cars or 1970s gear. But with a 911? Much less with active suspension? Watching videos of real modern 911s on COTA I see no trace of it.

What I'm saying is that AC in general seems to model this well. But the new official RS?

Has anyone driven the newly released 911R? Its fantastic to drive and compare to the RS. Its about 11 sec or so slower than the RS around the Nurburgring.
