Yes there's that rare occasion where it would be nice to take the GT3 to where I'm meeting to ride but I can deal with that sacrifice.
yea but, it's actually COOL to have the bike on top.. it's not a not-afford kind of thing, it's actually desirable.

Agree, it's double bad *** to drive your GT3 up a crazy mountain pass, mountain bike for hours, then drive your GT3 home.

Is it true that the cross bars are adjustable in width?

Please post pics...I may pick up one.
Never mind...I picked one up as they had one here in Vancouver...AND they sold it to me at the same price

Crossbars are adjustable and just telescope in width...each 6 in suction cup is good for 210 lbs. (total of 6...lots of redundancy)

I mounted front ones on leading edge of rear glass and the rear ones on the spoiler.

I then mounted my Yakima forkdown mount...had to shim the narrow part of crossbar with some rubber from inner tube (the thicker outer crossbar is too big relative to the standard Yakima crossbar). I also mounted my front wheel carrier on the crossbar as well.

Just need to come up with a mount for the thicker crossbar so I can mount my upright carrier so I can carry my Ibis MTB

Soon as it stops raining here, Ill be able to try it out...

Just a FYI...I have Xpel on the spoiler and when I removed the suction cups, I noticed that they left a small mark outlining the suction cup...very faint, but noticeable when the light is angled just right...it may bother those that are OCD in the crowd...

You are a complete hero - love that setup! Is that a black E46 M3 with a rack in the background? I used to take my M3 all around to bike races with bikes on top and gear in the back. Loved that thing.

Enjoy your awesome stable!

Thank you and I have enjoyed and will continue to enjoy what I have...worth every minute I worked

Yes, black e46 M3 coupe (obnoxiously loud DD, bike schleper, track car (just a few mods...lol) for last 15 years and 255,000 km) and also the convertible M3 is the garage queen cuz I love the S54 and manual.

Good eye! Sea Sucker adjustable width paddle board crossbars (on sale at West Marine...thx Glen for the link!) and my Yakima forkdown mount (can't remember model)...Yakima mount clamps to crossbars with just a couple of layers of inner tube as a shim...may use some sheet metal shims if there is too much sway...

Just need to get my mountain bike rack mounted on the other side...will need a more custom clamp as the cross bar is larger than the Yakima crossbar...
