I wish they did that here in the US! I bet it would really clean up the allocation mess we have now with people putting down multiple deposits at different dealers and others speccing cars and then backing out before delivery.

Only if the dealers paid market interest on the 25k deposit.

In Canada it doesn't seem to be as bad as the US, but I still wouldn't have a problem with the 25K deposit.

Number two on my dealer's list. They figure based on previous experience that it will be 4-6 months after release of the car before the second allocation becomes available.

#2 on the list doesn't exactly mean you will get the 2nd allocation

My prediction 918 owners will take their allocations at MSRP drive the car for 200 miles. Next sell it back for the dealer for a premium, and the dealer will resale the car premium 2x to get back what they invested plus some.

This happened with the GT3 .1, and RS now the "R" why do so many think this car will be different? A hand full minus 918 owners will get the car at MSRP because they buy a lot of cars from that dealer. (Which I agree with its like when I go to my favorite steak house in NYC I don't wait, and get the window seat) The guy who eats there twice a year tips a 100.00 to get a decent seat .........I just see cars as the same process.

I paid a little premium for my RS which was ok because I didn't buy all the other depreciating Porsche's to be the fav customer. I do just enough to get in the door with a slight premium. I really hope all that want a car gets one, but not sure I would trust the process changing because the dealer has the best hand like the black jack dealer.

Happy Thanksgiving to all, and be safe.

You are def right, this will occur.

Only diff I see is that Porsche will build a lot of GT3s this time around to meet demand. Those that can wait will get a car I think.

I hope I am in a 3rd group called "some lucky bastard who has never bought a Porsche but got one at msrp in the first half of the production run". That's where my hopes lie ever since the small town dealer promised me so. I can only hope since I would refuse to pay >msrp or wait until the end of production.

Good luck! I got my first GT3 for MSRP while guys on the list waited ........I got lucky and met the right guy. It's a tricky process, and sometime not waiting equals premium but not crazy.
