Default OT: Ferrari 488GTB Real Weight

Sorry for OT but I am really curious how is it that Ferrari claims their 488 to be 250kg lighter than in fact it is??

http://www.zeperfs.com/en/duel5623-5661.htm

Or Zeperfs got it wrong which I doubt!

I understand 50kg of options in some brands but there is really nothing that you can have on 488GTB that would add 250kg!

My fave is the speedos on F and L cars. My f'ing dually is more accurate, and the F & L speedos all read high.

And they severely overstate the HP also.

Ferrari always publishes weight as "Dry Weight" which is way lower than actual weight on the road. It's off by such a large amount, that one has to wonder whether the engine and gearbox were also left out, along with all the fluids...

That's exactly what's stopping me from getting a Speciale Aperta, along with about 500,000 other "reasons"

Huh, I thought the 675LT was 100kg lighter (136kg/3,000lb)...?

Edit: ah, 90% fuel AND 75kg worth of driver/luggage. Makes sense.

Same thing for the Nissan GTR : it's "far" from reality.
So far that I used to read the speed from an external GPS.

But with the GT3, the story is quite different. It's very close to the GPS speed!

Typical Italian behavior. Call it what you want, but following Ferrari and their overall way of conducting themsevles sometimes make me think they are bunch of kids.

What they have done to Chris Harris a few years back was just borderline rude and unprofessional. They also keep sending these "press" cars with massive suspension modifications and tunes to each reviewer, everyone knows this yet they still buy their cars.

One thing I love about Germans (not just Porsche but in general other brands) is that they are just textbook professional. No jazz, no drama, no bs with them. Ferrari on the other hand is like a nick name of drama.

the italians always do it this way - i remember quite well on my 2wheel history...

but everybody in the industry does it - minimizing it.
i do have some pff.de-posts in mind where people got for their 991RS new COC ("EU-Titel") were next to some details also the weight numbers where changed...

Did some research and apparently their performance doesn't match what they are claiming neither.
Great looking and sounding cars and I hope to get hold of one in near future but all this information is not encouraging.

aha.. explains why i like your posts so much. yes, in our culture, the rules exist to be bent.. you're taught this from a young age.. the one who follows the rules gets left behind as a fool. Don't want to start a cultural conversation but 20 years in the US and there are reasons I don't want to go back except for vacation. I can just imagine what the meetings at Ferrari where these items are decided and there is no way they would let themselves get beaten.. "By hook or by crook" as I learned going to school in England.. different world different strokes.. (as I learned going to school in the USA)... but you still want the ferrari and they can still hand-pick you like it's honor to give them money so they're doing "something" right.
