It wreaks of a mythical story passed along by friends and at beginning it was $500k and at end of line the number had grown to $1.3 million.....or of course a good ole classic prop story invented by some dealers that have 911Rs on consignment

This kind of exaggeration (if that's what it is) is also a symptom of a bubble.

911R (good car) + excellent marketing by Porsche (as usual) + car-crazed people with lots of money + speculation about high ROI = bubble

I would have thought someone that would drop $1.3 mil on an R would have been able to get an allocation somewhere. I think the R is pretty great but that price is insane to me. If that person is willing to spend that kind of coin, my thought is they would have done things by now to insure they would get an allocation.

It's not that the cars are expensive, it's the decreasing purchasing power & devaluation of the dollar, so it requires more of them.

Anyone can ask whatever they want, but actually selling it, is a totally different story.

Bubble of all bubbles..
We should take a sub 1000 mile and sub 100K Porsche GT valuation going back to the 964's and revisit the list in 2018.
I'm a seller.

If the guy had paid me a simple 10% finders fee (my mistake I really should be asking for more because the buyer certainly had more money vs brains).....I have one that I could have gotten for him at only $400k over Msrp.....apparently a bargain
