Still on ED with R8. 6500 km. Been living in Vienna.
Been to Solvakia ring twice. Fantastic track, 4.9 Km long.
At ring ran into Solvkia Audi club.
R8 has one huge disadvantage to a 911.
No back seat!
Car would be fine for 2guys .
But with a wife or girl friend, Max 2 nights😳

I would not trade my GT3 for any car, let alone an R8. It just does nothing for me. Don't like the styling. Too ordinary. I am sure it is really nice, but not anywhere near the level of a GT3. If you did this move I give it 3 months and you will regret doing it.

Now, if you can get a 458....

Zero interest in the flappy paddle new R8.

I was considering adding a 6speed R8 with the V8 versions in the 80k range - decided to wait for the V10 6speed to dip in the 80's, would be much more interesting.

when i had my 991 GT3; no one would notice.. just another 911.. so many driving around here in cali...in my R8 they take photos and film... i would not call that ordinary.. styling is subjective; but calling it ordinary is a stretch; IMO. i've owned so many 3/RS'... and I think you're wrong about the new R8 v10 plus... performance is definitely above 991 GT3; no question. i plan to track vs 991 RS, GT3's, etc and give an honest review; i didn't get it to be a track rat; but i am curious how it stacks up; i know it will turn faster laps vs GT3.. RS is the big ?. don't get me wrong; if was going to track more; i would get RS. R8 so far has been a blast on the street.. way more fun vs. my old 991 GT3.

Interesting about the public reaction to the R8. Would not have thought that!

i actually don't like the attention; that was a good thing about GT3; was more stealth; until i would get on it!

R8 is more Exotic. Germans do not like the loud shouting at you cars like the Italians. 991 are everywhere and the average person can't tell
aCayman from a 911!
After tracking my R8 it does have more understeer than I would like to see. But get this! 245/30/20s PZeros on the R8 have 1.1 inches less tread then the 245/35/20 MSC2 and Pzeros that Porsche uses. Go figure😳 But tires and tunes will start on the R8 when it gets backhome I still have my 991TTS stage 2+ GIAC tuned
I plan on enjoying both cars

I still think i owe it to myself and anyone out there who is curious to test drive the R8 and see what plays out

i traded my 2015 GT3 few month ago
and i still miss it very much
maybe i'm a Porsche guy , but not many cars "doing it" to me like the GT3
i hope some day to have another GT3 , maybe even 997.2 GT3 or GT3RS
or 991.2 Manual
i love cars with NA engine , and the 9000rpm just amazing !
the GT3 feel raw and "analog" and this is very hard to find in cars those days , the new cars are king of boring.

if i was you , i would choose the R8 over any other car with Turbo
i never test the new R8 , hope you will like it after test driving it.
from my experience , try to find a way to test drive the new car for longer time
because 10-20 minute dealer test drive not always tell you if you like it or not
some car you can say if you love then even after 2 min some you need more time to explore
if you not planing to do a lot of track days and using mostly on the street , the R8 might be perfect for you
check this review:

i tested the 570S only on track
on a very rainy day
so i can't really tell

good luck with your search for a car to replace the GT3
it's very hard to find better car.

When we get to this price level we are all playing in, our options become less.

Nice, that's the only car (besides RS) I'd consider as a replacement for GT3.

An R8 is a nice highway cruiser. I've had the V8 and V10 versions.
It's heavy and AWD. Certainly not a GT3 replacement! Attracts multiple times the attention of any Porsche.
At least it has that glorious naturally aspirated V10.
Now, a RWD R8 would be a beast!!

yes it's amazing car
the steering feel and feedback much better then the GT3
and the turning in , just wow !

the only thing i don't really like it's the engine
i prefer NA engine , always.
