TTS VS RS

Car and Driver has both the 997.2 Turbo S and 991 Gt3RS qtr mile times at 10.9. To say the last gen turbo S blows away the Rs in straight line speed, and that it is just fast enough to get from corner to corner is not really what I am talking about. This video is a display of running a light aero turbo car vs an aggressive aero NA car is a rolling drag race. Anyone with any car knowledge beyond a 16 year old knows what will happen.
Second, this tone is very different than your first post where you were questioning the conditions for some reason, all the while knowing it wouldn't change the winner.
I agree completely with your latter post. There is no question that under any circumstances the turbo S will beat an RS handily in a straight line.
I'm a big fan of both and have both. I'm sometimes surprised and impressed they are both 911's as they are so different and do different things so well.

RS was not built and designed for straight line racing. Silly comparison. On long sweeping courses such as the Ring a TTS has the obvious advantage. On shorter tighter courses like Laguna Seca the TT gets mauled.

Exactly. If you are that concerned about having a faster Trak Car you wouldn't even be in this forum you'd be in the racing forum picking out a race car. The RS is more raw than a TT; the better car for the track versus a TT. But either way if you're going argue split seconds or track times you should be shopping race cars. They are much faster then the streetcar that is supposed to be for the track.

The 650 does look like a great car and certainly a bargain used. I've driven a 12c, which I thought was a boring POS but the 650s really impresses me.

Strange everything I've seen the cars are almost identical 0-60 the turbo a slight bit faster, 0-100 650s a hair faster, 1/4 mile 10.5'ish for both cars. Only when I see it get into the 150MPH range or higher is there a second or more difference in favor of the 650s. So where is this destroying a 991 turbo statement based from?

For everything other than "fun", I drive a Yukon Denali. For fun, i drive something with 3RS in its name (if it's a water-pumping Porsche). Everything else in the Porsche line is a compromise, and, why do that, if you don't have to?

Now I have the Boxster Spyder which has far less power and is much more fun to drive.

On the 997 GT2/GT3 board we always used to say "if you need to ask just get a turbo"
The reason GT3/Gt3RS cars hold value so well is because the type of buyer (even second hand) tends to be a more discerning buyer and see the utility of track driving or high revving NA Engines as 300% more important than the utility of back seats or a convertible.
A lot of GT car guys are slightly masochistic- we want light, raw and loud 911 based cars. And a lot of us want to have different versions of the same thing- or different years. 997.1, 997.2, 991 and are not scared of buying used versions second hand. Turbo guys typically buy new and re-upgrade every few years.
The turbo guy uses his car more for commuting than track days. Both guys use them for road trips.

What's more disturbing is my car has two baby seats in the back and puts a whopping on just about anything out there stock. Adds a little salt to the wound, when one looks over from your Ferrari 458 or Mclaren, only two see you got your *** handed to you with a four seater "family" car with baby seats lol!
