One screw to hold it in place, eh? You can kiss that frame goodbye in a heartbeat.

Pearl says that it takes only a screwdriver and a couple of minutes.
Where did you see one screw?

That's what was depicted in the video at the bottom of the article.

$499 is cheaper than the hard-wired camera system i had installed--and you can swap it between vehicles.

Great idea. How long will it last in a parking lot?

I rarely leave my car unattended so it won't be a problem for me. Plus not sure if anybody knows what it is. Hope the app launches as soon as you put the gear in R.

I have a backup camera installed in my GT3 and rarely, if ever, use it. I thought I would when I installed it, but to my surprise it's just easier and more natural to use the mirrors.

And, to be honest, I can't stand having my phone latched or hooked on to something on the dash while driving. I just prefer to leave it in my pocket or in the side door panels. Makes me feel like a cabbie with a phone hanging out of my HVAC vents.

Crazy the car doesn't have a back up camera but I guess the weight savings really lowers my lap times. I thought it was just broken at first. It seems so odd reversing without having a good view, like every other car sold today.

The dot 2 will have one since they are mandatory on every vehicle starting in 2017 I believe.

How does it provide power for the cameras and the wireless connection in the frame?

It must require you to tap into some power somewhere...

They show a solar panel at the bottom of the frame.

Let me start off by saying that this is an "advertorial" and very badly written. There are many cheap Chinese alternatives on eBay already, the concept of the phone used as display is very inconvenient on a daily driver but I can see its use on a week end car. If you have experience with syncing devices with your phone you know that from time to time they don't see each other. Imagine having to leave the parking lot, take out your phone, Open the app, make sure the camera is synced and then backup...and then close the app and go.
Plus if it needs a plug for the obdi or not they'll still steal it, guaranteed.

Got it, thanks. I hadn't looked at the link, but I did look at their product website on launch day and it didn't mention anything about the solar panels.
