I love the singer...I just can't justify the price for what's basically a modified 911. Everything that made it current that costs so much is automatically becoming outdated over time and then you have just a remanufactured 911 with out of date parts in a few years.
I'd love to own one still but not any where near that price.

It's a 964 with carbon fiber body panels in the shape of someone else's view of what a Porsche should look like. As to the materials, I am sorry, no matter how hard I try, and I have tried very hard, I see the emperor's new clothes with nickel instead of chrome and more hype than reality - and no crash testing. Please forgive me, I can't see more.

For me, what are you getting for all of those $$$? For that sort of money I would have thought you got more than 390HP and something special to boot. Nothing special in the engine. A 4.0L NA engine with essentially off the shelf store bought parts. This engine could be built for maybe $30K. An engine is the sum of its parts!! If it was anything special it would make way more than 390HP. A street 3.8L makes 350 -375HP. Race 3.8L RSR engines made a tick over 400HP.
So where is the rest of the $'s going. It must be into all the fancy parts, that have nothing really to do with performance. For those that want to pay that sort of money for fancy, that's Ok too. Just not my thing. Huge money for a 2700 lb 390 HP sports car.
Its all in the fancy and a nice pair of shoes would give me as much enjoyment!!
450HP in a 2200lb car, now ya talking. Experience that thrill ride and the fancy would become irrelevant.

I am afraid I tend to agree with raclaims and m42racer. For me, Singer is way overhyped and overpriced for a tuner car -- no matter how nice the window frames and door handles - and I still worry about safety as I see no evidence of crash tests or reinstallation of airbags. Of course, it's buyers run to its defense, they almost must. But I still have a hard time seeing the value or the price as there is nothing so really special as to command this - would rather have a 964RS or, more modern, the new R.
As to a Linton 911, that's the last thing the world needs. On the other hand, if Porsche made a 964 4.0 RS, I'd be first on line.
